I spent time in Sonoma in the 40's and 50's, and moved here in 1974. I've seen many changes to Sonoma over the years. Keep the Red Oaks! You cannot replace their natural beauty but more easily can use some ingenuity to fix the surrounding walkways.

There must be a smart and creative way to save mature living trees. Chopping them down seems like an easy out. Do you think Jack London would've gone for that?

My wife's hometown of Kingston, Nova Scotia cut down all their trees due to Dutch Elm disease and never replanted. Yes, the downtown is pretty ugly. Let's not make the same mistake.

City council should all be impeached. They have lost site of what the City is and always has been. They are more interested in themselves than the people of the Community.

Please do not cut down these gorgeous trees. Concrete is easy to fix. Established trees are priceless.

First the Chickens, now the Trees. Why don't we make downtown Sonoma look like a shopping mall/parking lot in Concord? Or down town San Jose? Barf. Yes trees are "messy" and need minimal care, but the reality of life on earth is not some mechanical lego eco system where all you need is petroleum and transportation - despite the propaganda of generations of Morlocks! Save the Trees! Save our Environment. Save the Earth!

The trees provide a beautiful entrance to the Sonoma Plaza as well as countless environmental "services." Removing them is not the answer. Sonoma can do better.

We are losing too much greenery unnecessarily to urban convenience.
Please save these trees!

It seems rash to take down these nice oaks. There must be other solutions. Without mature trees Broadway would look awful, and there would be no shade.

PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE TREES FROM BROADWAY. THIS NEEDED AND ESTHETIC IMPROVEMENT IS IMPORTANT TO OUR COMMUNITY FOR A NUMBRER OR REASONS INCLUDING ECONOMIC AND HEALTH. WE NEED TO MOVE FORWARD WITH IMPROVMENTS TO OUR BELOVED TOWN, NOT BACKWARD. IT IS ILLOGICAL TO REMOVE OUR TREES THAT WE WORKED SO HARD TO ACQUIRE.
