thw surface is awful, I have a barefoot horse and the surface will rip his feet to shreds, so I will no longer be able to use it.

I have used the railway line nearly everyday for the last twenty years and yes it has had some spots that are muddy - but that's part of being in the country! The new surface doesn't suit anyone, horrid to walk on, useless for horses and unpleasant for cyclists. I met a family yesterday who had to abandon their family cycle ride because the surface was so difficult for their young son to cycle. Not sure what they are trying to achieve?

I think HCC can find better use for £300k than ruining a natural walkway!

ruining the very thing that makes it lovely.

I have used the old railway line for years, walking, cycling and horse riding. It is.. or was.. a place of peace and sanctuary. It is now the complete opposite, with an industrial surface making it hard underfoot and taking away the beautiful and natural environment. It is a huge disappointment to think that this is what the council thinks is needed!

I have lived in the Meon valley all my life and used the old railway line (now called Meon Valley trail) frequently. all the so called improvements have done the exact opposite, the lovely canopy is gone in so many areas and the stone chippings make it less rural and more city or country park, nit what it should be!!

There has never been an issue with the surface of the trail for as long as I can remember and I have used it since I was a child, so there is no need to change it now and make it unsuitable for equestrian activity and dog walkers.

The trail has been totally "vanadalised" by this "improvement"

It's not just horse riders who hate this. I regularly walk my dogs on here an occasionally cycle. Even with a mountain bike, this surface is horrible. It seems to wrong for everybody. Who thought this was a good idea?

Leave it alone!

There are precious little horse friendly paths that we can still use locally. The green lanes are chewed up by 4x4 off roaders and scramblers, making them impassable, so this makes the changes to the railway line even more upsetting. Why does everthing have to be health & safety sterilised. The types of people you are catering for, don't leave their sofas.

It was beautiful. Now it's just another gravel way.

Local environmental and historic sites should always be openly discussed with the local community, users and advisory bodies to find a good way forward.

So many childhood memories along the line, like my first canter on a hack, It's such a pity that you can no longer canter along there. The surface is appalling and all this works has disturbed wild life. So much for the new "better" surfacing!!

Save the railway line! It's been totally ruined and the new "better" surface is unsuitable for cantering along now.

We walk our dog along the railway line nearly everyday. It looks awful; in some places the new surface to the path has already been washed away and the trees and bushes have just been hacked at. I also sincerely hope Mr parsons is being made to foot the bill for the area of path he has ruined. It may not be the case, but no one with any power to do anything seems to care...
