Please ensure that the resurfacing really is suitable for all users. Hard chippings are NOT suitable for horses. You will effectively render this beautiful bridleway unusable for horse-riders if you do not take appropriate measures.

Save the bridle way. Surely it's better to have the horses off the road, so why take away the one place they are safe!

I used the railway alot between Mislingford and Wickham in the 80's. It was our link between the villages on horseback and it was beautiful. I remember the disussed station which as a child aired a sense of earie mystery. I am an advocate for improvement and have enjoyed development of The Trail. I do not however agree with the latest plans. My motivation for this objection is sentiment and why shouldnt that bare any weight? Lets pull together to preserve this area of natural beauty, its taken years to tranform itself into this sensory delight. Garlic, bluebells, sunbeams, dust and fabulously muddy patches which are infact essential to cyclists who learn to negotiate them via the edging woods and to the walkers who see the opportunity for rambling also around a tree, or horse riders who believe it or not can't always dive right through on a not so willing pony, so we all learn a new life skill and operate these manoeuvres without complant and with a cheery wave to our companions! A gallop at dusk or a cycling at dawn, a mud splattered face or a soggy trainer, a walk in the sun mending a quarrel a trip on a train to a loved one. This place exudes memories they are there please go there and sit by a tree, listen and report back to me, what is this place telling you? Let the bridleway/railway/trail be the judge.

I have lived in the Meon Valley all my life and have ridden my horses, walked my dogs and taken my children on country walks on this line for years. I am desvasted to think the railway line will be turned into a byway. This will create a busy and dangerous railway line, unsuitable for anyone on their feet. If you open this up to carriages, it will be unusable for anyone else. Some carriage drivers are responsible and will go slowly and respect other users but there is an element in this area that will not respect any speed retrictions and will turn it into a race track for trotters. If this goes ahead this will be a tragedy.
