Save our bridleway: Meon Valley Disused Railway Line

the hampshire county council should repair the roads with the tarmac not make the countryside like a urban roadway.

I thought the idea was for cyclists to get ut into the country side and get of the roads, leave the country side alone.

Absolute vandalisim and totally insensitive both to users and to natural abitat of wildlife. What were they thinking? This wanton destruction would result in normal people being fined I imagine surely people should be consulted before you destroy such a lovely path in this way!

Please postpone the work and follow the recommendations in this petition

This is a walk I enjoyed as a child 40 years ago and should be protected for future generations. It is a haven for wildlife and full of wild flowers. Don't turn it into a road. It isn't necessary and will lose its charm and affect the wildlife.

The meon valley railway is clearly a bridleway its signposted. Horseriders dont mind sharing this but why change the surface? horses dont need more roads to ride on!

This is a BRIDLEWAY, why are you not taking horseriders into consideration?

I don't have an issue with the widening and tree felling that has taken place as this is required from time to time. But the wood could have been shopped and stacked to use as fire wood rather than chipped - much more carbon friendly. However, my main issue is with the surface which is completely unsuitable for horses. They have now completely excluded an entire user group. A smoother gravel would suit bikes and wheelchairs better and a muddy or sandy track alongside would suit horses or anyone else who is not afraid to get their boots muddy.

So sad to see so many that don't gain from the new surface. I used to use the bridle way a lot when I lived nearby, now can't imagine it suitable for any pursuits.

There is no need for this type of devastation for a simple re surface! There are much better types of surface to use and more ecological ways of doing it!

For more than thirty years I and my family have enjoyed this lovely unspoilt railway path. Not once did I encounter anything more dangerous than brambles, puddles and stinging nettles.
