The new railway surface has made going for a bike ride very uncomfortable. Probably find another route now.

Road the railway line today and very disappointed! The new surface has made it such a hard ride.

How sad, why no consultation previous to the destruction. Perhaps conservationists think they can do what they like?

There are not many places now you can ride your horse safely. Don't make this another place that you cannot ride. If I wanted to ride on a road I would do so. Keep these rural places rural!!!

Too many nice off road cycle tracks are dissapearing and replaced by smooth surface 'towny' tracks!!

I have ridden & walked the disused line for more than forty years. As a family we were totally unaware of any proposed work along the line, clearly it was not well advertised Families ( push chairs included ), dog walkers, cyclists & horse riders have happily shared this beautiful picturesque area for as long as I can remember. I remember going there when at infant school to note the wild flowers & wildlife, plenty to be seen. How sad that the beauty has been ruined, yes the trees needed cutting back a bit in places & drainage to alleviate some wetter / muddy areas but it has been totally decimated, gone is the canopy of trees that was part of its beauty & provided protection from the elements & the undergrowth beneath that was home to all sorts of wildlife The stoney surface is not only unsuitable for unshod horses, of which there is becoming more, a lot of children's ponies are unshod but unsuitable to canter on. There is also the danger of stones being ' flicked ' up & becoming ' missiles ' My dogs are finding the surface hard going on their feet

I was shocked to discover the extent of widening and re-surfacing that has taken place on the trail over the winter. The surface is now unpleasant for both cyclists and horses. It is too stony. I appreciate the drainages improvments and agree that some of three needed to be cleared but the works have gone too far. The bridleway has just been turned into a gravel road.

I think it is a stupid idea for a 'bridlepath' that is 10 miles long, should be resurfaced for any reason considering it is a bridlepath not a pavement/sidewalk. Also, how many disabled people, or even young children, are going to be able to fully walk 10 miles? I don't understand that something that has been fully fine and functional for the last 50 years now has to be changed!? It's stupid and a waste of money. The bridleway is obviously fine as it is.

If you want to keep horses off the roads, don't get rid of bridleways!!

This is a permissive bridleway and the council should give priority to horse riders needs. There used to be lots of cowslips along the bridleway should. Or these have been protected.

bridleways are being lost all around the country at a fast rate. Causing riders to use roads that are dangerously.

There aren't many places left in this country suitable for a trot and a canter... There are plenty of places to cycle!

this is disgusting, the council can spend that amount of money on resurfacing but have no money for repairing all the pot holes on the roads. People complain that horses are on the roads but where can we go when the bridlepaths are being taken over, more should be made accessable to help us to keep off the roads and not have risk life and limb against uncaring drivers!

I consider it to be very important that the route remains suitable for horses; there are increasing lengths of tarmacked roads and pathways, and decreasing amounts of tracks suitable for horses. Please consult carefully with the local community before proceeding.

Not enough is done to keep bridleways in use and keep vulnerable road users off the roads. This is a safe route for horse riders - something which is not readily available to many throughout the UK.

I thoroughly agree that i would be a disgrace to this beaty spot if the council and such were to undergo this without talking to the main community of equine rider and cyclists.
