I find it quiet extraordinary that so much is going to be spent on this project, surely it would be better spent on maintains the roads to a better standard? I ride both mountain and road bikes and my wife and son are keen horse riders, we also have a dog which we regularly exercise on the railway line, it doesn't need to be paved it suits every purpose just as it is.

the railway is a favourite, safe riding venue and the new surface is not suitable for horses anymore. please don't force us back on the roads. keep it a place where riders, walkers and cyclists can enjoy together

the old railway line is a valuable local resource for many activities and horse riders have few other places to ride safely without either causing or dealing with road traffic

I use this bridleway regularly to ride my horse and to walk my dog with family. I strongly feel that the riding community should have input into the discussion concerning the appropriate surface for ALL path users. The roads are so busy as riders we should be able to use the bridle ways not be forced to ride on the road because the surface has been made up rideable by our local council!!!

my family love this track , it was the safe way to teach my children to ride they bikes. I always cycled on the path, it was so much safey then using the a32. Please keep the path.

this railway line is one of the very few places where you can feel safe when riding.

such a shame this track has been changed . I am amazed all those trees were allowed to be cut down - especially as this time of year with birds making nests etc . The proposed surface sounds as if my children will no longer will able ride their unshod ponies along the railway line, we use to access the South Downs way

don't urbanize it we live in the countryside...the countryside has mud it's expected! Horses are being forced off paths which are gradually disappearing, don't force us onto roads we have as much rights as cyclists and other users

A trail should not be urbanised. Bikes can ove on gravel, also walkers and horses. Pushchairs and wheelchairs should not expect to use a trail.

I loved the way it was all muddy and leave it the same please. I grew up on the railway line playing in the trees and getting muddy it's such a shame to change it. Leave. It to natural beauty

this is ridiculous, as if there isn't a lack of bridle ways in the area already! Places to ride horses safely away from increasing traffic seems to be getting less and less.
