Just heard that a plan is afoot to build a new YMCA in/around the Middleton area. Was that the Council's plan all along? If so, that might explain why the problem, which was identified years ago, has been ignored. This Council must arrange a Zoom meeting for the citizens of the community from Bridgetown to & beyond Digby, who use the YMCA facilities & the Basinview Centre.
If the structural integrity of the pool is the problem, it does not mean that the entire building is unsalvagable. Let's demand to hear directly from the Council about ALL the details, along with ideas for solutions. Why are we being kept in the dark?

It seems the Council members, most of whom do not live in this area, are happy to let this community of Annapolis County languish. Terrible negligence and no attempt to save the YMCA & our local amenities add up to dereliction of duty. My husband & I have invited two sets of friends & also family members from out of province to visit this summer; they want to retire here. This province is advertising to encourage people to move to Nova Scotia. Yet instead of adding amenities to the community, the Council is taking them away. What kind of marketing is that? We moved to Cornwallis Park in September in large part BECAUSE of the YMCA & nearby amenities. How does the Council see fit to DISCOURAGE retirement dollars which expand the tax base?? Our community must be heard. Why hasn't there been a public meeting with the Council citizens of the community? Why isn't the Council working toward a SOLUTION? Our community must continue to fight this injustice. We are committed to working with everyone to find a solution.

During the years since it was built, the Basin View Center has become like a domino in the mosaic of a thriving community. If it should fall, the well-being of the entire area will soon fall with it. Please don't take the easy way out and ignore it. Do the hard thing, do the right thing, save the Basin View Center.

My family regularly shop at Basonview amd we also use the facilities. Our community needs this center

Please save our Basin View Center. The grocery store is a very important for people living in this area and the Y is important for the health of all area residents. Do the required repairs, fill in the pool and support this area.

The building is very important to a number of residents of Cornwallis Park. There are a number of people that do not have the extra money to take a cab/bus to grocery shop and use the grocery store as their main place to feed their families. I know a hand full of people that moved to the area for this exact purpose. It will have a huge impact on people's lives! Please save this for our community!!!
