Save our Banks, Save our Towns

I will shortly be moving to Chagford, and was intending to switch to Lloyds Bank, this being the only bank in the town. The idea that people are "choosing" to bank online is a politician's argument, for it has only happened because bank staff have been instructed to advertise this to customers - at a cost to their own jobs!

So important for the future of our beautiful town. So unfair to penalise us in this way.

We've lost the NatWest Bank and our Post Office. We need the Lloyds Bank and so do our visitors especially people on holiday from other countries. The shops and pubs and restaurants need these facilities and everyone needs the shops. It is very old fashioned not to have a Post Office or Bank in such a busy and important Town in Dartmoor.

Closure of Lloyds Bank Chagford - the only bank in town - will sound the death knell for this community.

Similar closures on Isle of Wight, no thought given to local community & business

It will be a disgrace if Chagford and Moretonhampstead are left without banking facilities.

Many people don't drive so our local bank is a necessity! And as much as I'm sure the PO would relish the extra business many people require more than just a paying in service.

This is causing hardship for the elderly: those lacking in confidence. The more remote areas of Dartmoor also have poor wifi and mobile reception, making online services difficult. Just had to drag my 87 yr old immobile mother all the way into Exeter to open an account.

How many more?! We have already lost our branch in Ashburton - are you leaving Devon altogether?? You are single - handedly destroying communities, shame on you!

I live in Chagford & I'm self employed therefore rely on the essential services of our local Lloyds Bank for my business. I work full time hours therefore unable to travel over to Okehampton Lloyds branch during the opening hours. Lloyds in Chagford is an essential lifeline for our community.
