I'd love to see the forest become more of a park. The memorial trees should not be cut down for any reason.

There are so many reasons not to cut down the forest at Pirate's Wharf:
*Honoring and preserving the memories of those lost on 9/11
*Carbon sequestration services of mature forests are greater than those of developing ones
*Public recreation opportunities abound in mature, deciduous forests - not so much in pine plantation
*Habitat preservation and the promotion of biodiversity are key to maintaining healthy ecosysyems in Wicomico County. The Delmarva Fox Squirrel was only promoted from endangered to "threatened species" 3 months ago, let's not make it endangered again.
The county council needs to do the right thing for its constituents and preserve this forest!

Please consider the significance of loss that would be incurred by the destruction of this forest for short term gain. Also please consider what it represents to even consider killing an irreplaceable living memorial to 9/11 victims for something as base as money.

Once this valuable resource is cut down, it has gone forever.
Consider the alternative of the County turning it into a destination for nature lovers, which, long term, would yield greater benefits.
