As a visitor to Cape Town I would strongly support preserving and maintaining Cape Town's heritage buildings. Without these buildings the character of Cape Town and its suburbs will be destroyed and some of its unique appeal lost forever. I think you pull these buildings down at your peril.

Hi all,
Just thought I'd let you know that I have it on very good authority that Oliver and Ann Nurock (who started this petition) live directly behind the house in question. It is clear that their only agenda in saving this house it to hopefully save their view.
I believe the qualified members of HWC know much more about such heritage issues than Oliver, Ann, or Beverly Schafer.
Not to mention that 90% of the petition - taken straight from a news article - is incorrect.

Let us protect our old buildings that lends character as done in Europe. We are always travelling to go and admire the old and special and yet we destroy it in our own Country!

South Africa must protect our heritage and not go the way of many ugly overly developed unplanned cities in the devleoping world. We need to advocate to protect the beauty of the Western Cape and oppose developments that promote the demolition of listed heritage buildings and developers who lack the integrity needed to business according to planning policies.
