Councillors . . . Want to continue business as usual downtown?
Parking is free in the malls on the periphery of town . . . why the hell would anyone pay to pay to enjoy the 'inconvenience' of local, downtown shopping?

I thought we were trying to entice people to come downtown! Keep the one hour free parking! If this is going to make or break the city budget then maybe they should have raised taxes a little bit????

Give people a little leeway!!..It should be 2 hrs. Free!! For Dr. Appointments. Patients don't have to run out of an appointment to check on their car!

If I had to pay for my first hour I would look for another place to eat or go to do my business.

This will do nothing to increase city coffers but on the downside will contribute to the City Core exodus. Especially for seniors and fixed income people like myself who drive in and spend small amounts on a regular basis.

Why would we do this? This does not support our downtown BIA. It only discourages anyone from shopping downtown.

Mayor Dilkens is following the same path as his predecessor, downloading costs and taking away services. And yes, I consider this a service.

The 1 hour parking is extremely beneficial to our society, especially for downtown businesses and our lesser off citizens. I know that if paying for parking for short trips was required, then I would visit downtown significantly less often.

this is one of the reason to avoid going downtown . I think we pay enough taxes to have a right to a place to park the car downtown when we need to go there

I shop every week at dr disc and the free one hour parking gives me and my three year old time to peruse and spend our money downtown!

It's great for people just dropping by or running into a store for a min. Taking that away could be bad for the businesses surrounding.
