Save One Hour Free Parking in Downtown Parking Garages

City keeps talking about bringing people to the downtown core. How does this help bring people down to the core? Seems like everything they do detracts people from coming to the core. It all started with building the arena in the east end instead of downtown.

Free parking helps downtown retail compete. No brainer.

I believe studies have been done with regards to available parking within the downtown core. If I am correct, did those studies take into consideration ALL available parking, both City owned and corporate/public? For the Municipal garage on Chatham Street; the free 1hour parking was the easiest and most convenient for anyone having to attend either the Police Station, any of the three court buildings, to utilize Charles Clark Square, stop/visit at the several churches in the area or to walk to a number of nearby businesses. The Casino garage I understand may enforce illegally parking in their structure, and very few if any street parking is available without payment for short stays. Does not loss of available/ limited free parking near any of the Provincial/Federal buildings (Police, Provincial and Federal Courts) weigh in with respect to 'services' those entities may be obligated to provide to the public; such as ease of access (parking, whether paid or not). I don't know that answer; but it is an interesting thought.....

I agree 100% this should happen, maybe people would go downtown

If we remove a free hour if parking for our deficit. Then let's have paid parking for ALL city owned land like the wfcu arena and other libraries. Just like we have to pay downtown.

This decision makes zero sense in my opinion. I lived in a downtown condo for 12 years and watched the closing of many businesses. This is another strike against small business owners. It is no way to revitalize the pathetic Windsor core. Restore the one hour free parking in the parking garages. It just makes sense.

Without the one hour free I'm much less likely to go downtown than even now.

This is truly not a way to encourage people and businesses to come to the downtown core.

The 1 hours free parking is critical to encouraging people to come to the downtown. I know it works on me and my family - we live in Cottam and I don't hesitate to come dowtown knowing I can park for free for 1 hour. I know London offers a similar deral at their downtown market and I make a point of gogin there everytime we visit that city. I hope the City can look beyond a revenue gain and see the harm this could case for dowtown businesses. Sincerely, Catherine Plante

Please keep the one hour free parking spots. I use it especially to be able to attend Weekday Noon Mass at St Alphonsus Roman Catholic church. The church has only 5 parking spaces and so having the option to park for free is very helpful.

As someone who is moving from Lasalle back to city of Windsor, this will the amount of short trips to the city core.

STOP ROBBING THE CITY

The city should be encouraging and supporting downtown as a place to live and a place to visit. Very short sighted in so many ways.

This is a thoughtless money grab by the city.This not the way to develop the core.

It's one of the reasons I go downtown rather than a strip mall or chain restaurant.

Greed and stupidity. That's all it is.

One less reason to go downtown for anything.

It seems to me that Windsor governance, while taking pride in not raising taxes, is taking away services annually and thus lowering the standard of living for its residents and visitors. This is just another example and raising on street parking will be another blow to the downtown.

Without the one hour free parking i will not be going downtown
