The 1 hr free parking helps me decide if it's worth going downtown or not.

We need to look at improving facilities and services downtown and this is an incentive for anyone who needs to use a service such as a bank, pick up tickets from the Capital, or stop by for a coffee and pick up lunch. Good to have for the market on Saturdays too. Please look to improve the area rather than try to get people to move and shop in the suburbs which seems to be what councillors who do not represent the city want.

Don't go downtown much to shop because of the parking. This hour free is great for as a senior I can do what needs to be done in that hour.

I will have even less incentive to shop downtown than I already have if free garage parking is eliminated. The city is cutting its own throat for the sake of a few more bucks!

Now i have no reason to go downtown. At least at the dtrip malls and mall i will not be nickle or dimed, for my business

I live downtown and its hard enough for businesses to survive as it is... you should have raised taxes to cover this cost.

I wouldn't sign this, if the DWBIA hadn't come up with other viable ways to offset the costs of an hour of free parking. I also think if municipal lots downtown aren't free, than none should be free right across Windsor -- I think of the WFCU Centre in particular. Consistency and/or Creativity are required as better solutions than the one currently proposed.

I couldn't agree more - parking issues are the No.1 reason for declining business in our downtown and other business areas (eg. Ottawa Streeet). The city looks at this as a revenue opportunity but they would serve the community better it they concentrated their resources on creating an environment to grow and create business instead of driving potential customers away. Everyone only has finite financial resources, if their money is spent to park that means that it is not available to spend in the businesses that are trying to survive in this anti-business climate.

so important we build our downtown core to be more than just bars/restaurants..humans operate based on path of least resistance.. financial being resistance..

This is a draw for me to go downtown. Most things I do are done within the hour and it's super convenient. What it effectively does is eliminate some people from going downtown. Seems counter productive and a very short sided idea by the City.

I spent 30 yrs in Windsor I live in Whitby now but still go to downtown Windsor at least two times a year to attend at a jewelry store there and use the parking garage for the few minutes to drop off or pick up items

This isn't about costs. There were options on the table where the City could keep One Hour free and still increase revenue (like extending parking meter hours till 7 or 8 pm instead of 6 pm).
