Why further discourage individuals from shopping in our already struggling downtown core

As citizens of Windsor... Ontario... Canada we just can't seem to catch a break with any level of government. When is it ever going to end? Squeeze every cent out of us you can

Quite surprised they did away with the first hour free parking. Here's hoping they bring it back to the downtown!

Please don't discourage people from heading downtown and shopping by eliminating free temporary parking......

Our downtown needs all the perks it can get. Something must be done to rejuvenate the core.

You know the saying, "death by a thousand cuts"? Well, city government doesn't seem to understand that's how they're approaching the downtown. Windsor's citizens are far more intelligent than they're given credit for. This kind of disincentive planning is the number one turn off in the region. You can't just hand the civil infrastructure development goals for your coty core over to a casino and the local University and call it a redevelopment plan. Doing so and then arbitrarily raising parking fees and eliminating one hour free parking in our overpriced garages is a gun to the head of downtown business owners. How many park longer than that first free hour because they know it's a great deal? Beyond that it's just another kick in the head to anybody in Windsor needing or wanting to be in the downtown. Eliminating many spots by building a pool complex nobody wanted and even more again by giving properties over to the University and closing down streets, is an incredibly short sighted and terrible way to treat the downtown. So is ignoring the Film festival, and turning a deaf ear to the Farmer's Market. $50,000 for Detroit to host an air and noise pollution festival on Belle Isle, though. I can't even think of anyhing that's a more sarcastic putdown of Windsor taxpayers. But Council and the Mayor won't listen to anybody who disagrees - at least, not if they don't live in or represent the wards that "count" to the Mayor. Where are these wards? Well, draw a circle around the downtown. Make it big though, or the Suburbanite cabal running Windsor will just continue to deride, degrade and ignore.

One hour free parking has been at that garage for as long as I can remember. When doing service calls it has saved me money quite a bit. People will stop shopping downtown without it. Ouellette ave will become a bigger ghost town with art work in all the store fronts

Please 1 hour parking give back to the Downtown core bc people spend. If they have to pay they will go elsewhere including me.

If I have to pay for parking at the garage, it will mean less money to spend at the Farmers Market this summer.

Short term financial gain will cause long term pain. Very short sighted.

No free parking in Windsor, save for shopping malls parking. It is shame and just primitive money making for somebody, Pay parking at hospital is top of the shame.

Making more money on parking will not improve the business situation downtown.

I do not frequent the downtown area too often simply because it doesn't offer a reason to go . If I had to pay for parking I would go even less. For simple reason I can go elsewhere for more variety of services & not pay for parking. So why would I pay more to go somewhere for less.

One of the main reasons I go downtown is because I am/was guaranteed at least one hour of free parking. What is this city thinking of! Do we want a welcoming downtown or not! They should be thinking of ways to encourage people to go there - not more ways to discourage people. Do not take away the 1 hour of free parking!

We have a family business downtown. With the predatory contractor meter maids. It makes it difficult for people to feel comfortable coming down!
