Save the North Park Branch Library from Demolition

I am a North Buffalo resident and I support the goals of this petition.

The petition beautifully explains why the building shouldn't be demolished. It's the perfect building for the site, and it should be rehabilitated and reused.

I used to live in this area, I still frequent and love it. We do NOT need another corner of strip malls there.

Please, retain some sense of community /greenspace on this otherwise abysmal corner. This building could certainly be re-developed.

The dominance of sub/urban design by the car is soon to be over. In another 20 to 30 years, when public transit is better and cars park themselves (perhaps blocks away from their owner's destination) spaces surrounded by asphalt will be less valuable. Welcoming, inviting, accessible spaces with natural materials and green space will be in demand. A company of vision would create much value by finding a way to preserve the character and beauty of this space.

This building was constructed with craftsmanship techniques and materials that are no longer available or practical. It is vastly superior to what would be built in its place. The demolition of a building such as this should be illegal. Private ownership of a property or building should not extend to so far as to allow the holder to destroy what is an enduring public good. Too much of our once world-renowned community has been dismantled for short-term profit. I live in North Buffalo and I vote.

I live in North Buffalo. It is still a lovely neighborhood, but the beauty is eroding with each new generic development that comes in, like the Walgreens at Delaware and Hertel. Surely SOMETHING can be done to re-use the library building!

I'm not from N. Buffalo but I'm in the area many times during the week - besides, the city exists as a whole, just because I don't live there doesn't mean I don't have a valid opinion. This building is the last example of how people were welcomed into this neighborhood and it deserves to be remediated and returned to appropriate use aka as a neighborhood library. The very last thing the city needs is another tacky suburban style strip mallish development.

When I first saw this little building tucked back from the street on a well-treed lot, I thought it looked liked such an inviting civic space. I was saddened to find out that it was no longer a functional community library. It would be a shame to sacrifice this charming building and the green space to a cookie cutter development on a noisy, congested corner.

I have been getting more and more involved on Hertel Avenue as an artist, attendee of the Farmer's Market (resurrected by the North Buffalo Organization), and EVERYONE I talk to about this building says they want to see it reused, that they are tired of the suburban-style new builds all around Hertel//Delaware//Elmwood//Amherst. The community is speaking. Now it's time for the City to listen and re-open the call for development proposals that repurpose the historic structure and tree-lined grounds.

Please save this historic structure.

Let's keep the charm of Buffalo instead of making it generic.

My Mom grew up walking to this library...she lived on Virgil...It's a beautiful building...please don't let it become part of the "throwaway culture".
