Save the North Park Branch Library from Demolition

A library is a source of life! 'then I received my first book, and my life began.' You literally build anywhere else. You show some class and leave the library alone and restore it to what it is; money is a renewable resource.

My mother grew up using this library. It would be a shame to destroy the legacy this property holds. Our future thrives on the past.

North Buffalo needs to save the building. With all the popularity the area is experiencing, the charm, character & history needs to be preserved to remind people of what was once a thriving area and bring back and make memories for all.

Please don't build another big box chain there! It's a charming building and could be a very cool coffee shop or something unique.

The charming building that was the North Park Library should be saved and remain part of the character of the Hertel Avenue neighborhood.

Please NO!

Stop the development of more ugly shopping plazas!!!! Save the library!

Let's not make North Buffalo look like Transit Road.

To demolish this site would not be right for the neighborhood as it is today. Even worse it would not be right for the many kids who grew up in that building. We carry pleasant memories no matter where we live at the present time. You know you are home when you drive down a strange new Hertel and spot the North Park Theater on one end and the library on the other.

Please keep this building intact. Do whatever it takes but keep the building so it remains.

Save the building

Tearing that beautiful building down would be tearing down a part of Buffalo's history. That building should be restored and made operational again or turned into a local museum. Moderizing isn't always the answer. This world could do with a touch of 'the good ol' days.' My mother has memories of walking to that library as a little girl with her sitter. Other citizens of Buffalo have such memories. Why take that away?

I urge our elected officials to do the "right" thing and preserve this historic site. Just as we have chosen to show an enlightened view and save structures recently in other neighborhoods of Buffalo, let's show wisdom on this decision as well. We do not need to destroy the structures that make our neighborhoods rich in history.

This a charming library. I would walk my children their almost every week.

Not only was this my neighborhood library, I worked there as a page. Great memories.

SAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL BUILDING! Hazardous materials can be abated or incapsulated. It is done on every existing (as opposed to new) construction site in Buffalo. Once you have destroyed the historic fabric and character of our beautiful neighborhoods, you destroy what what Buffalo is made of. That is what makes Buffalo unique. We don't need another Rite Aid as a gateway to North Buffalo.

We live in North Buffalo. I grew up reading in this library. My husband's business is on Hertel (New Buffalo Graphic/Local Color Gallery). This corner is a treasure. It has quality, charm, TREES . It is a landmark. If Benderson gets the message they could develop the qualities that will contribute to our neighborhood. It has true value and serves as a landmarking anchor to our part of the city. Let's keep it as a companion to the North Park Theater.

I visited here frequently as a child. I would walk from my dad's house on Lovering Ave. down to the library. Imagine the alternative, walking down the street to go to a strip mall or Burger King... not exactly a memory worth keeping.

As a resident of North Buffalo for most of my life I've seen a lot of change. Some good, some not so good. The last thing North Buffalo needs is another cookie cutter strip mall. There is already too much traffic at that corner. Further, this is a wonderful building is representative of an era that once was and should be preserved and as stated in the petition repurposed.

Leave some character in the building s in our part of town.
