I have been involved with amateur baseball in BC for decades, served as a coach, on local association executives, and on the Board of BC Minor (though I am not currently and this is a personal appeal.) I also am the founder of one of the most respected baseball instructional websites in the world and have seen a lot of baseball in a lot of places over those years. There are too few quality diamonds remaining which can accomodate the levels of play possible at Queens Park. What's more it is a picturesque and even before my involvement with baseball, I was an advertising creative director and used QP as a location for commercial shoots. I am certain it has also been featured in movies and TV at times. This is for the above reasons a facility worth saving.

Our youth and community comes before corporations and our parks are paid by our taxes and will not be for sale

Why are we paying? Taxes are high enough! Let the Whitecaps pay.

I've played baseball since I was 4 years old. Grew up and played Poco Minor Baseball until I was 17. I've represented BC 4 times. 2 Westerns, 1 Nationals, and the Canada Cup. I even went and played 2 years of college baseball in Texas, so I've been around the block a few times. But you know what? Out of all the baseball diamonds I've ever played on, whether it be all over BC, in Alberta, in Ontario, in Nova Scotia, or in the States, there's only one diamond that I can think of that is on par with Queens Park, and this field is in Kamloops and was built to replicate Safeco Field. Queens Park is by far and away the nicest baseball diamond in the lower mainland. It's a park that a low of ball players my age have grown up with, and I'm not even from New West. Think about the future of baseball in the lower mainland without the nicest field there. During this past year, I'd tell my guys we were playing at Queens Park and they were excited. That probably has to do with the fact that we play at Thompson, and Queens is Beverly Hills compared, but that's besides the point. The main point I'm trying to make here is that you're taking away a lot more than just a baseball field. You're taking away people's pasts, you're tarnishing children's futures, and if you decide to go through with the plans of tearing down the field, make sure you can look yourself in the mirror at night and be able to say you've made the right decision. In my mind, and in thousands of others, taking that field away is terrible.

This is a travesty that they would consider removing such a facility from the area that is used by a large group of children in various sports, Simply wrong.

I know I may not have been the most commited player on my team this year. but I still love this park. i've grown up playing for new west baseball and I dont want to have to rebuild all the hard work that everyone else has put into keeping this stadium going.

There are so many places in Vancouver or Surrey that you can put up new stadium why do you need to destroy our baseball stadium?

I have grown up in New Westminster and now raising my three children here and both if my boys play lacrosse year round and hugely utilize many spaces at Queens park and not only would it be detrimental to our youth and adult sports in this park it would also be a major set back to youth lacrosse in New Westminster. In the last four years Lacrosse, Soccer and baseball has grown to the level that would be greatly diminished if this space was taken over from our youth sports ! At ever senior or Jr Bellies game there is no parking to be found, it is completely packed therefore the residents and community surrounding Queens park would be hugely affected since attendees would then have to park in front of our homes and residential streets which is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated !

I've heard no mention of the brand new pitch located about 200m away from the ball diamond in Queen's Park. We seem to have an abundance of soccer facilities in New West compared to baseball. My children play both sports, I coach and have played both sports myself and it is a shame to hand over - on the backs of us tax payers - the only facility of it's kind in the city. Should the Whitecaps farm team have their own field - the parent club doesn't even have this luxury. I'm against this proposal and look forward to election day should this pass!

Move over soccer, you've taken the front seat (and all the money) for too long now... Baseball is here to stay - equality is key!
