I believe PCSOs perform a valuable service in Ilford and across London. They provide the kind of public service that we pay taxes for. Please find a way of continuing to fund them. Thanks.

How can you possibly cut crime when you are scrapping PCSOs! Surely the community should be consulted?

Hope we are successful. They are the 'face' of the Police Force.

the pcso play an importment part of relating to the general public also why do we see a lot of policing in an area when a crime like stabbing AND MURDER HAS BEEN COMMITTED

I think there should be more police on the streets to prevent. Crime. I also think that they should take serious ambitious people like myself more seriously

We need more police out and about not fewer. Please reconsider. On behalf of the elderly we need the protection of police officers on the street and the ploice need the co-operation of citizens who keep alert.

I came into contact with several PCSOs when I helped co-ordinate and run a Neighbourhood Watch in my part of Newbury Ward in Redbridge. As a Watch, we valued highly their inside knowledge of what crimes were being committed , and what police teams were doing to combat crime or raise public awareness of what residents could do to safeguard themselves and their own and their neighbours' property. So I grew to respect this "arm of the law", and found their help invaluable on several occasions. If this safeguard, one of many put at risk by this Government's policies to undermine our civil liberties in the name of cost-cutting, is put into effect, the community that the Government so glibly talks about is further put in danger of disintegration.

I believe the Mayor should abandon his plan to scrap London's PCSOs and must consult the local communities about the future of policing in the capital.

Although PCSOs do not have the same powers as police officers, their presence is a deterrent to criminals, and with the cut-back in numbers of "bobbies on the beat" they are even more vital.

The level of cuts to the Police Service is not acceptable. A government's job is to ensure the safety of its citizens which will not be possible with this level of cuts. A strong police force is a must in London.

As a Safer Neighbourhood Police Ward Panel committee member, I've repeatedly been told that crime numbers in our area have increased so much, that our Safer Neighbourhood Police have to call in reinforcements from 2 other London areas at the weekend. Therefore it doesn't make sense that The Mayor is planning to axe all of London's neighbourhood PSCOs. There have been at least 3 knife related incidents that I know of in my area, calling for more policing, not less policing. I agree that The Mayor should come out and speak to people in the community and see for himself that there is a great need for our Safer Neighbourhood Police Force. Last year they were given more powers, and now The Mayor wants to axe our much needed bobbies. Where is the sense in that? We are not very safe as it is, and if The Mayor carries out his plan, then it will be a free for all in terms of local crime, giving criminals Carte Blanch.

Please, please, please - we need this valuable service. Their visibility helps prevent house theft, protects the elderly at risk in their homes and many other valuable services.
