Just what are they thinking.

PCSOs have paid an important part to the community where I live in Romford as I'm sure they have throughout all London boroughs. They bring together a sense of assurance when seen walking their beat and getting to know local residents. For some PCSOs, it is their first step into seeing if a policing career choice is right for them. It was for a previous work colleague of mine. He was based for some time in Romford and is now doing very well for himself at Scotland Yard. Don't lose other good recruits by them not having an opportunity to see if policing is the right career and let local neighbourhoods feel a sense of worth and collectiveness in having help running Neighbourhood Watch schemes. This too would not have started without our PCSOs

I was not convinced at first by PCSO's but I am now. They are a vital link between the community and police service and free up time for PCs to get on with their job of catching criminals.

Cutting away the community Safer Neighbourhood officers will create a huge public relations divide between the police and the community that the police seek to serve.and lead to increased crime, antisocial behaviour and drug problems and it will only cost more in the end to solve all the problems this will create.

I am concerned about reduced presence on the streets in a town center area like the one I live in.

Think it's a big mistake to cut this part of the service, they are no longer just seen as a viable deterrent but now a vital part of the service.

I find it unbelievable that the police force ie beat officers and community police officers are being cut back at this time. The local community need to see officers on their streets to reassure them that help is available if required. If the force is being cut back does this mean that the 7 or 8 armed officers to protect him at 10 Downing St will be reduced to 2 officers?

PCSO presence on Havering streets absolutely essential, to remove them is giving the green light to the criminal fraternity! To further cut the Met. Police Force is sheer irresponsible folly!

We need a presence on the streets to make it a safer place to be.

We need this kind support in the community

The role of the police is far wider than simply cutting crime and the Government (and Boris) need to recognise that and stop relating funding to crime figures.

Any cuts in the police service should be stopped. After the large rave party in London last night. That stretches London policing to the none

The PCSO's are the eyes and ears of the community. They are doing the job thay they were employed to do, build a relationship with the community and free up the police. However, as EU want G4S or similar to be the European Police force the PM has allowed distruction of the Police Force.

The SNT are tremendous support not only to their police colleagues but to the general public. To lose them would be disastrous.
