This is where I learned to swim, and who knows how valuable and life saving of a lesson it could be for some, especially living on the coast.

I transferred to NES at the start of 4th grade when the Manzanita grade school shut down. I struggled with swimming! I'd have never 'gotten it' in just 10 lessons. Please keep our kids safe and continue the year long lessons!

NES needs to look back on the original decision for building the pool. According to my mother's memories, the pool was built after the drowning of a couple kids. In the North County area, with all of the rivers, creeks, and the ocean, learning to swim is not just for fun. It's a lifesaving skill. The children's lives could very well depend on it. PLEASE KEEP THE POOL!

I grew up using this pool every Friday night. It is a great outlet for kids. There isn’t always a productive activity for kids in a super small town. Taking this away could lead to unhealthy activity and kids getting into things they shouldn’t be in. This building and pool is an integral part of Nehalem. The history and stories within these walls must be maintained and passed on to other generation. Please keep the pool.

I am the guardian of 2 kids who had an unhealthy home life in nehalem. This part of their schooling was a life saver, not only for learning to swim, but for the stimulation and calming effect of water therapy. They are confident swimmers and divers and have gone on to try swim team and competition.

I learned to swim going to P.E. at Nehalem Elementary. It is a very important skill to learn at a young age. I probably wouldn’t know how to swim without having the classes during school time. Help keep our kids safe!

This is one of the most critical life skills children in our community need. Please, haven’t we gone 90 years without a local drowning? Please do not cut this program. What’s to gain? It feels only like a loss.

Please do not end the swim program. We are surrounded by water and our children really benefit from this program.

Please don't reduce or eliminate the weekly swim lessons at Nehalem elementary. Its such an important skill to learn as a child. I speak from experience. I attended Garibaldi grade school and didn't get the opportunity to learn, and to this day can't swim well.

The swim program has been around for generations and yes, times and regulations change, but this is a community staple from a time when we decided to put local kids safety first. We have to fight to keep it alive.

keep the swim program! Pickle ball courts for the well-off elderly while cutting kids sewing programs? This is wrong.

Swimming is for more than safety: it’s great for brain development too!
