Please allow the beautiful and very peaceful South Natick Dam to remain a part of our community. I find it relaxing and very peaceful to sit and watch and listen to the peaceful sound of the water as it falls over the dam. Let us hope the envirinmenlist will be able to find a solution that will allow us to keep this beautiful and important landmark of Natick.

The damn was created almost 100 years ago. The Charles River and all of its micro climates on every foot of the river have changed, adapted and grown since it's construction. As an example, the fish, birds, mink, deer, plants, frogs, insects, etc., have all formed over generations, survival in new ecosystems. Fish have reestablished their spawning grounds and feeding grounds. The notion that removing the dam will help the fish is not a thoughtful consideration but merely a "sound bite" that is digestible for Damn removal advocates. The concept is based on the salmon runs of the western rivers not on stocked bass and trout of the Charles River. Removing the damn will result in an environmental disaster. Countless disasters, on every foot of the river. Above and below the damn. Besides the countless negative environmental impacts, our state and the earth for that matter are moving toward a future of drought and lack of rain and fresh water. These are the facts. We are in yet another year of drought. We need to keep our damn so we, as a commonwealth, can control our water ways and not let it all just flow out to sea. This type of infrastructure is going to be necessary all over the world. We in Natick, already have the bones, why would we remove it, when we are going to have to build it again in the near future to control hold and manage our length of the Charles River?

The historical dam creates is a beautiful and scenic treasure. It will would be a great loss to all of Natick to lose it.
