The South Natick dam is beautiful and should be preserved and repaired. Removal will lower the river, limiting canoeing and kayaking, will narrow the river increasing mosquitos and poison ivy. 1st dam built in 1720 at South Natick.

Life long Natick resident… I am extremely concerned about the contaminants on the upper dam will be disturbed if the dam is removed the Elmbank aqua fire is located downstream of the dam this could be extremely detrimental to the Natick water supply

As residents of Phillips Pond, a community of 27 homes, we strongly oppose removal of the dam. Our Phillips Pond community will be directly affected by removal of the dam as we abut the river about a mile upstream. Many homeowners Kayak and we all enjoy the beauty of the river and the dam which is in walking distance. There is great beauty and history in the dam site and the river. We implore you to NOT remove the dam and do the necessary repairs to stabilize the area and let the dam remain. It is a community asset for all residents of Natick and beyond to enjoy and commune with nature. The power of sitting by the dam is restorative and awe inspiring. A special special place that is hard to find in this day and age.

I grew up on the Natick/Dover line in the 1960-70's. It was a favorite place to ride my bike to and wade out to the 'Island'. Removing the dam my appear to be a good idea, but it requires more thought before removing it completely. Please search for a way to keep it!!!

Removing the dam would be catastrophic to the river and the wildlife that lives in it. I have caught frogs here since I was a little kid and don’t want to lose that. Many people fish here too. It would be ridiculous to do this to the ecosystem, for the sake of the plants, animals, and people.
