The South Natick Dam was an idyllic place to grow up and a place to hold in my heart even though I live elsewhere now. More important than my nostalgia is flood control; removal of the dam could adversely affect neighborhoods below it. To allow safe passage of wildlife from one level to another, strategies being used elsewhere could facilitate that. Please preserve & improve the South Natick Dam for future generations—don’t remove this cherished landmark!

The South Natick Dam Waterfall and pond were a wonderful background to my childhood growing up in South Natick. I urge you not to demolish this beautiful dam and to consider the recommendations of the people of the area. Even though I live in Nh now, I come to South Natick to visit this special spot. I grew up on Water Street and skated on the area they used to flood nearby, and skated over near the dam as well. Please consider our pleas to leave well enough alone!!

The falls are an important part of Natick's history. Every time I go there to take in its beauty, there is always a line of cars parked to do the same. Anyone who grew up in or is a long-time Natick resident, knows of its history and enjoys having it as part of our landscape. To demolish it would remove its important history. It would be better to make it a place to come and enjoy its significance. . There could be signs that tell visitors of its history and importance to Natick. Use Cushing Chapel as an example and notice what they did to preserve and educate visitors.

This is one of many icons within the Town of Natick. Its removal now will destroy the eco system upstream and make room for invasive developments.

For all the reasons stated I support saving the dam. Is there a fish ladder? If not, it would be even better to add one, and still repair the dam, rather than remove it to an uncertain future.

I am a frequent kayaker on the Charles River and this is one of my favorite places to paddle. Any changes to the depth the river will significantly decrease its use as a recreational asset.

It seems like nothing in the world is sacred anymore. What a shame to lose the dam. Everyone only seems to want NEW things now. The dam is a real treasure.
