So you’re saying we should remove the concrete human-made structure and restore the river?

The earthen dam is. The concrete spillway is not. Technically, removal of the spillway is the way to protect the dam. Now are you ready to remove your signature from this petition?

This is the most laughable comment yet, but I’ll play along: Do you also propose that only residents of South Natick pay for the repairs?

This should be up to the residents of South Natick cause it really only affects us

Isn't this dam a registered national historic site? Should that protect it from being destroyed?

Nature and our beautiful dam need to be preserved. For the future generations.

I grew up at this dam! My family owned 17 pleasant street for many years right next to the dam on the Charles! This is not only one of my fondest places to visit still in the area, however to preserve the wildlife and quintessential vibe. I love S Natick and this area! Best of luck!

Leave it alone! It’s beautiful and the drop in water level is reason enough.

This dam is serene and brings calm to the surrounding area when life gets tough. It's therapeutic; please keep it!

Removing the dam will have adverse affects on property owners. Choose wisely and repair the dam.

I have been coming for years to sit by the river with my children. We have come when they were young and now when they are older for picnics. It is such a peaceful beautiful park by the river.

Given the frequency of complaints from residents in South Natick about traffic, it is laughable that (a) they would welcome additional economic activity and (b) their petition centers on people flocking to this site from miles around. One would think they’d rip the spillway out themselves to reduce this dreadful traffic.

Thank you (but not really) for prioritizing your family’s history over that of the Nipmuc people, who were here long before the White settlers arrived and destroyed the River. It would be heartbreaking to miss this opportunity to do the right thing and restore the River.

Why does progress always mean doing away with something good?
