My first thought of politics coming into play was the Animal Control Officer referring to the complainant by her first name, not her first and last. That shows familiarity which leads to favoritism. There seems to be too many discrepancies for the "victim" to prove her case. If this outdated law is enforced, does it mean if the pig person owned a dog and this dog was in the barn with any livestock, that dog would have to be put down? Don't punish these dogs and their owners, look into the actions and lies of the pig person. Hopefully she isn't sleeping well these days, I'm sure the dogs aren't.

If and it is still to if these dogs did infact take the lives of two pigs it is still not a reason to take their lives. We do not have the death penalty in Michigan for people who kill people for a reason. Why punish the dogs for something the owner did. This has to be beyond a reasonable dought and I am not so sure it is. Things change over time and this law is from 1919 and is time to change it.. Yes we do have a lot of coyotes in our area could the dogs come across this yes. Plus they want $45,000 for 2 pigs I am sure buyers for the 4 H don't even get that when they sell the pigs for butcher.
