this law is outdated and needs to be revoked...taking these dogs lives will not bring back these pigs,,i am not trying to minimize their owners loss but i just dont believe the loss of the dogs lives would be fair....i dont feel the evidence was in any way proving they did the killings...i am a dog owner too and i would fight till the end of the world to save my animals...you would be unbelievable to have never had your dog slip out a door or a yard at least once in their life...this law is too old to possibly serve any purpose or good...its a sad situation for all concerned but i think the pigs owners should settle for monetary damages only and if they had insurance than that is to cover a situation just like this...there are so many antiquated laws in so many states that need to be taken off the books....these are Ohio licensed dogs and should be spared..i cannot imagine so many intelligent adults cant fins a way to remove this stupid law and do the right thing...you are innocent until proven guilty...dogs dont maim and bring on carnage..they might kill if attacked but not pigs!!...they will always roll in whatever they find but come on...do the right thing !!!!

If the direct monetary value of the pigs is being reimbursed by the insurance company, that should be enough, especially in a case where there is largely circumstantial evidence. The value of one life should not be settled with the loss of another. An eye for an eye will only leave everybody blind.

The law is archaic and out of date and must be rewritten they were written in a time when animals were immediately killed because of possible diseases. It would solve nothing to kill the dogs considering the blood that was found on them I consider circustantial. It is natural and in-bread for animals who smell blood to become curious and immediately investigate. The amounts awarded are ridiculous.

compensation should be the only thing that comes out of this. 2 wrongs do not make a right. If you really want to get technical, those dogs live in Ohio, should go by the Ohio law!!!

it impresses me people can remember laws older then dirt when its convenient for them.
no one seems to remember the laws protecting animals unless there's a price tag attached. I think the first thing mi. should do is check out the pig owners story. I'm wondering if she's looking for someone to pay her bills. I don't understand why a dog gets the death penalty when she obviously left the barn open and unattended.
if a dog from down the street could get in so could an untamed animal from any where. I'd like to know why she isn't being charged with animal cruelty for her pigs. they died because she left them unattended.

Spare these dogs lives. An automatic death sentence is just wrong. We are their voice. Give them life. The pig owner out of pure spite wants these dogs put down. Shame on them. Monetary compensation is appropriate and within reason. A reasonable amount.

this is awful - wild animals do harmful things all the time and they are seldom caught or killed pigs are not nice animals and end up going to be used for ham or bacon the owners have been compensated that is enough save the dogs no wonder my ancestors left the state of michigan

The dogs should not be put down. There doesn't seem to be concrete proof that they killed the pgs. The pig owner shoujld be compensated for the loss of the pigs ($5200 seems reasonable; not $45,000).

I agree the dogs shouldn't die. the law is very old and should be changed. This lady's sounds unforgiving. Her pigs weren't her pets. She was going to have them killed in the future ;compensate her the money; let dogs live
