Why get rid of a good teacher that inspires students instead of the bad ones that make students hate school.

I have never had her as a teacher but she has subbed for one of my classes before. Very smart and kind woman. She should not be the one getting fired.

She has rekindled an interest in science in my sophomore. For sure not the type of teacher we should be losing from our schools. Continuing to lose eager, young teachers will only make for fewer people interested in our town. I support her staying on 100%. I'd rather not have AC installed at the middle school!

I support any teacher with a passion for learning with thier students in an effective way. Though I do not know this teacher personally, from the comments I feel she is one of those kinds of teachers, and it is important to hold on to them!

She is a genuinely wonderful teacher, and a wonderful person. She takes the time to get to know her students and create a personal connection with them, which allows her to better help her students to succeed. I hope that you can understand that her teaching methods have helped a lot of students excel in science in a way they haven't before.

Mrs. Cheng is a valuable asset to Joel Barlow. She exudes enthusiasm and has accomplished a difficult task: making Chemistry fun for students of all abilities.

I went here for the shortest amount of time, but I will never forget Ms. Cheng's Chemistry class. She is the definition of a TRUE teacher; she knows how to get students to learn. For some reason, that's rare. It'd be a huge mustake to get rid of such an amazing teacher (even though she could easily get a job just as good if not better with her qualifications). Streach the budget or make a cut elsewhere.

Although Barlow is highly acclaimed for being one of the best high schools in the state, my fellow students and I find that one area that it tremendously lacks in is hiring teachers who are passionate about their jobs. It is actually incredibly disappointing to go to a school where teachers show up to work just to collect their pay, not to passionately teach their students. Ms. Cheng is the opposite of this set standard. To say she is passionate is an understatement. She lives and breathes her job, and would do anything to help better her students learning. Before having her this semester, I absolutely hated every part of science. Quite frankly, I still don't like it. But she has been the only teacher to cause me to be engaged in class, and excited to learn with her in my presence. Don't let one of Barlow's finest go. If you do, hundreds of students spirits will go with her.

She really is the best teacher I've ever had. The dedication she puts into teaching is unlike any other teacher I've seen. She works soley for the accomplishment and success of her students and it's wrong that this is happening to her.

Ms Cheng is an AMAZING teacher who through her passion for teaching & for her students inspires them to excell and enjoy science!! To lose her would be a huge mistake. We need more teachers like her who actually make learning science fun!!

My son has been fortunate to have Ms Cheng as his teacher for 2 semesters. He has learned so much from her and enjoys the class too.
Tenure is really an issue. We all know them - the teachers who are not good and have had complaints against them year after year. But, with the way the system works, the last in is the first to go. What can we do to get the bad teachers out and hold on to the good ones, especially as enrollment and staffing needs decline in the future?
