Most notably his ability to bring out the best in his student, challenging them to think globally while balanced with a histrionic perspective. The statements shared by those eyewitness students in the classroom paint a very different picture from the false allegations made by this student /family. Now our brave students are fighting back. Mr. Carnine was my son's favorite teacher at Revere. He led thoughtful discussions that prompted my son to start conversations with us almost nightly about our values, and why we hold them. Without knowing the details, it sounds like the student making the complaint completely missed the point of the classroom discussion. There has to be a way to discuss racism without being called a racist.

He uniquely challenges students to have English spelling tests that reference their history subjects. He challenges them with creative projects that cross all media. He is a wonderful, dedicated and caring teacher. On this petition, many students who were in the class on the day in question, have said the claims against Mr. Carnine are completely inaccurate. I had Mr. Carnine as a teacher in 6th grade. As a high school senior, he remains one of the best teachers I have ever had. I could not imagine him making racist remarks towards a student. The reports of casual racism in his classroom are simply false. He is far too professional to say anything hurtful to a student, even if they were acting up. There was one problem child in my class in 6th grade who happened to be african american, and even though Mr. Carnine often got angry at him, he would never use a bad word- he simply sent him outside: even when faced with anger or frustration, Mr. Carnine did not deviate from his usual professional self. Thus, I cannot help but know that, unless Mr. Carnine has changed drastically in the last 6 years, this accusation is false.
