Mr. Carnine was one of my daughters favorite teachers last year, because he goes beyond the books provided to help the kids learn. He used his own books that really brought history to life. My daughter said "Mr. Carnine would never say anything like that, he is a calm and caring teacher."

Hi Cameron, it's a good question. I think what a lot of people are saying is that issuing a lawsuit that contains terrible accusations against a teacher should be an absolute last resort, only after all attempts to discuss, understand, mediate and reconcile have been exhausted. And even then, such a lawsuit should never be leaked to the press (as it was in this situation), because in our media environment, the accusations can (and in this case did) go viral and become national news. Reputations and careers can be destroyed based on accusations alone, even when they have no basis. And even if the accusations are later proven to be untrue, the media rarely corrects its own errors, or if they do it's in small print. The damage to the accused is often irreversible.

These accusations are a joke and LAUSD should be ashamed of themselves from CYA tactics that ignore facts. This is why LAUSD should be dissolved!
