This is a travesty that needs to be resolved immediately in full vindication of Mr. Carnine. He has proven to be one of the most dedicated, charismatic and caring teachers in all of LAUSD who has an unblemished track record.

I don't know Mr. Carnine personally, but have heard he is one of the best teachers at Paul Revere. It is a sorry state when just a few words and a lawsuit can ruin a teacher's career. Teachers have to fear for their jobs, watch what they say, never pat a student, what comes next?

My son had a remarkable learning experience in Mr. Carnine's class several years ago. I came to know Mr. Carnine well and he is a man of integrity and open-mindedness. We fully support him.

According to my daughter, “Mr. Carnine is being falsely accused.” She is in his class and was saddened when she learned he was being suspended from teaching. She said, “He is the BEST teacher!” Mr. Carnine teaches with grace and respect for all children. He teaches our children history, how to draw from the past to make a better future. That is the purpose of history! And, Mr. Carnine is amazing at teaching children.

Based on my understanding from those students present in the same classroom as the accuser, these accusations are completely false. Also, based on my own personal interactions with Mr Carnine and my daughter's experience as his student, he is an amazing educator and dedicated teacher who deserves the benefit of the doubt, rather than being removed under questionable circumstances. I hope the district comes to understand that the actions they have decided to take not only undermines their own power, but also creates a large opportunity cost for all of Mr Carnine's other students who are now suffering the consequences of LAUSD's rash response to political pressure. Rather, the district should show all the students, parents and the world that they have faith in Paul Revere's staff and trust that the investigation which has already taken place at the school level was properly conducted. This investigation found that the accusations could not be corroborated by any other student present in that classroom. That should count for something. Finding and keeping a good teacher like Mr Carnine should be valued more highly than the perception of the press. I hope the truth rises to the top and the district rises to the occasion.

Both of my daughters were very upset about these false allegations. They both described Mr. Carnine as one of the kindest, gentlest teachers they have ever known. Please bring him back to school ASAP.
