My children have all participated in the band program at HHS and Mr. Syman was instrumental in fostering their love of music. The cutting edge approach he took in teaching music theory through Jazz in creative ways kept kids deeply connected and engaged in their learning. Letting go of his talent would do our students a huge disservice.

Mr. Syman is the life and blood of the band program. I graduated from Hudson High School in 2019 and him and his jazz program is the entire reason I stayed in band and still play saxophone to this day. His program and passion for teaching drove my passion for jazz, and is something I will never forget. Losing him is the worst decision the school could make.

He was a great teacher that worked super hard to support students and extra curriculares like jazz band and more. I always have reflected on benefitting from his different perspectives compared to the other band staff and grateful for what I learned from him. He is definitely and essential and valuable asset for HHS and the hudson school district.

Bothe our kids found Mr Syman very impactful. If we have to cut, ditch McArthy, he should have been let go long ago.

I really think that the Hudson School District should do all it can to retain Mr. Syman. My granddaughter has really excelled under his tutelage. He seems to do a good job of teaching kids at this difficult age. Please consider this request.

Syman was a key factor in my former band years and encouraged me to continue to grow and learn. Having him as my lesson teacher starting in sixth grade eased mine and many others transition to high school and the wonderful program headed by both Syman and McCarthy. I remember playing in his jazz band and learning so much. It breaks my heart that the school is considering removing him and I agree with everything said in this petition. I'm so grateful for all Syman has done for me and countless other students at Hudson High School AND Middle School!

Once again a Music program gets hit with a cut. Both my kids ADORE Mr Syman, and he was such an important part of their growth as musicians (Class of 20 & 22). He makes up half of a great team of Band Directors at Hudson High School, and with all the blond support the district gives its sports programs, I’m SO disappointed that they’re common to this decision. Mr Syman deserves better for everything he’s given to this district.

As a former student of Mr Syman at Hudson High School and a band teacher myself, I can speak to the absolute professionalism, care, and dedication he brought to his students. He is part of the reason I chose to become an educator myself, and has changed countless lives like mine since. Not every kid loves sports or core classes, but every kid deserves the quality musical education and learning community that Mr. Syman and the rest of the HHS music staff provide to the student body. It is so disappointing to hear that Hudson is so comfortable with disenfranchising students with artistic interests. KEEP MR. SYMAN.
