Retain Mr. Syman

Nick Syman is a phenomenal teacher. He is highly respected by his fellow teaching team, parents, and students for his knowledge, creativity and innovation and passion for music. Teachers have a powerful impact on the lives of students. Losing Nick Syman as a Hudson School District staff member would cause a negative impact on his current and future students. I hope the district reads all of the comments and reconsiders their decision.

Had Syman in high school for band, he is an excellent teacher.

Cutting extra curricular ms in any way has not helped any student ever….I am so disappointed this is actually a consideration.

Despite my daughter's athleticism, she never connected with any of the high school sports programs. She did connect with her band directors, where she thrived, and her "sport" was marching band. Not all kids enjoy athletics. The band program provides many of the same benefits as extracurricular sports - teamwork, confidence, accountability. I can only imagine how dismal her high school experience would have been without her wonderful band teachers.

My daughter was part of band in HS and she appreciated Mr. Syman’s immensely. With his position being halftime, it would limit the lesson times and help that band members would receive. Many students cannot afford to take private music lessons. Band gives the opportunity to many students that are not athletes to get involved in school activities.

After spending 37 years teaching band in Hudson, I can honestly say that Nick Syman is an outstanding music educator. Losing him from the faculty will have a definite impact on the quality of the band program in Hudson.

Please remember the kids need the arts programs just as much as any other activity!

Seriously already cutting teaching staff!?! Educators are the ones that have a direct impact on students…not the admin staff at the district office.

Do better Hudson

Teachers like Mr. Syman are the people we MOST need in the lives of our kids.

HHS make this happen for Mr. Symantec and prioritize fine arts.

It is so disheartening that the first things to get cut in public schools are the arts programs. They are so much more for kids than an extracurricular class. It teaches team work, coordination, emotional development, imagination, anxiety reduction, self confidence, discipline and more. Most music teachers have been learning their craft their entire lives, as many start lessons at a young age. Mr. Syman not only deserves to be full time, but also proabably deserves a raise!

Mr. Syman is needed full time at HHS. He provides inspiration to students that goes beyond the classroom.

I graduated from HHS in 2018. In no small part because of the passion of the teachers in the music program, I ended up graduating college last spring with a bachelor's degree in music in addition to a chemistry degree. Although I never took a class with Nick Syman, I saw him almost daily, and I know that he exemplifies the best of HHS and of the music program. A school that wishes to remain well-regarded and attractive to potential residents - like my parents, who sought, among other things, quality public education when they decided to start a family in Hudson - would be wise to keep him.

I don’t have any children actively in HHS band but my daughter will be starting band in 6th grade next year & I find it so frustrating to always hear about cuts to the Music programs when schools have budget issues. This is a disservice to the Hudson band program.

Mr. Syman was such an inspiration to me as a student. I would not be the person I am right now without him. This is a tremendous loss for Hudson kids.

Please keep him as a full time teacher. Music department is important

Students need the arts in their academic lives more than ever.
