An amazing teacher, worth every penny for the impact he has on students lives, mine included. Had the pleasure of taking two of his classes and being a T.A. For another and he had such a huge impact on my academic career. Mr. Freedman captures the spirit of LACHSA and it would not be the same without him. The value that LACHSA would lose far out weighs the monetary concerns. Some things you can't put a price tag on and Mr. Freedman and his passion for teaching and inspiring students is truly priceless.

Jerry Freedman is a part of LACHSA's soul. He was there since the beginning. He is a fantastic teacher, keeps long relationships with his students, and cares. This is how we WANT teachers to be. They should put on pedestals. Cut Jerry Freedman and you cut out part of LACHSA's soul.

Mr. Freedman is as much an institution as LACHSA itself. He is the shining example of an academic with an understanding of the needs of artistic minds. Mr. Freedman deserves the respect and dignity to leave when and how he chooses and not forced out for some transient board members budget cuts. Best of luck in this fight!

PLEASE keep Mr. Jerry Freedman as a teacher at LACHSA! He is vital part of the foundation and curriculum at LACHSA. I am a former student of Jerry Freedman's class of 93 - LACHSA. He was a true inspiration, amazing instructor and profoundly cared for and continue to care for each and every one of his students ever taught. Many of his formers students still maintain a relationship with him because of the impact he made on us. If Jerry is unable to stay at LACHSA will be losing one of the founders of LACHSA and it will be disservice to every current student and those to come. PLEASE KEEP MR. JERRY FREEDMAN!

Jerry Freedman taught me how to think. More than almost any teacher I had anywhere, he helped me begin to integrate my interest in art with my desire to understand and make a difference in the world. I'm proud to have been his student, and LACHSA sould keep him on!

When I was in 11th (or 12th??) grade I remember being the only one in my political science class to argue with the democratic/liberal group of artists that were my peers and friends. I vividly remember Mr. Freedman standing back in the doorway and letting me go crazy vocal with my "opinions" while the rest of the class screamed and yelled back at me thinking I was nuts/republican/conservative (none of which I am today). Mr. Freedman would just smile and thank me in front of the whole class. He always encouraged us to think for ourselves and not have fears when voicing opinions that were undoubtedly against the grain. At the end of the school year Mr. Freedman came into our class and presented me with a stick figure drawn paper doll of Marie Antoinette holding a sign that read "Let them eat cake!" with my name on it. I was so proud and felt so special in that moment! I have been unafraid to be my own voice since that classroom experience where I was encouraged and embraced for being different. I have never had a teacher (or human) leave such a profound positive impression on me since his classroom. There are very few teachers that could handle a kid like me let alone bring out the best. I can't think of ONE decent reason to keep him from another kid who he might shape and mold the same way. Do the right thing LACHSA. Rules were made to be guidelines, not bad decisions.
