Mohatta Palace is once of the few accessible public spaces in Karachi, where there is an extreme lack of safe public spaces for women and families. Mohatta Palace's menial entrance fee allows common people to view art that would otherwise be out of their reach--art that would otherwise be deemed too sophisticated for them.
How many other accessible public spaces and museums does Karachi have? Why does it need to be taken away from us?
Also, converting this historic building into a college is a horrible idea; it will not be able to serve the purpose. If a college needs to be built, make it a purpose built one from scratch somewhere else. It doesn't make sense to have one in this area. Why not demolish Sindh club and build there?
