How can anyone take away a heritage building that is possibly one of the few places of cultural interest in the city . For all the years the property was deserted no one showed any interest in it - now when it can be a potential source of income there is interest in destroying what has been built up from scratch .
The concerned should allocate new more suitable land to honour the Mohtarma’s request if there is proof of it.

It is a blasphemy to change this beautiful building to a medical school. We have more than enough private medical schools churning out incompetent doctors. Let Thai be a place of culture, which we sorely have lost.

It's is one of the most iconic buildings and museums there is no other comparison in Pakistan. At a time when art and culture are things to be saved, we are to be the custodians of this for the youth of Pakistan. It would be a loss if it were to no longer function as onem

Karachi has already been looted and plundered enough. Most heritage architecture has been demolished and ugly buildings have replaced it A few remnants of the past glory must be protected and preserved. This particular one is not just an example of superb architecture but has invaluable historical significance. It must be retained as a museum.

Mohatta Palace has played an immensely important role in preserving cultural heritage and in holding a series of excellent exhibitions, talks, shows and cultural event which focus on our rich inheritance - and in doing so it has a provided a great service to this city (of millions!) which has no other museum or cultural centre which has performed this much-needed role so effectively. Added to which the renovation of the building by the distinguished architect Habib Fida Ali and its maintenance since reveals the amount of care and attention that has been devoted to it - for years and years before, it was just a neglected building in a shocking condition, surrounded by overgrown trees (and yes, I investigated it and wrote about it in Dawn when it was in that sad and sorry state). I do hope it remain a museum.

Mohatta Palace fulfils a role as a cultural institution not only in Karachi but also in Pakistan like no other. It is a world-class museum serving the needs of the arts and local communities. We need to do all that we can to protect it for future generations and the good the good of the country.
