Mitchell Hall and the rest of Marischal College are important features in Aberdeen, not only because of their impressive grandeur, but also because of their historical significance. The City Council, in recent years, has moved into the front section of the building and out from its previous headquarters in St Nicholas House. This was a joint effort with the University of Aberdeen to rejuvenate the building and to provide a better working environment for the council. The University then made attempts to work alongside the council again with a view to bringing Mitchell Hall up to current Fire and Disability regulations standard. This, however, failed.

The aim of this petition is to give the council and the university the knowledge that the people of Aberdeen do want to respect the most impressive building in the city and for it to be utilised once more for civic ceremonies, graduations, concerts, and other events. The aim of this is not to cause undue anger, but rather to show that there is a need to find a solution to this problem.

Please sign this petition if you are keen for this once great hall to be used again. Thank you, Michael Stewart Aberdeen University Medical Society President

Keep our history alive instead of just letting it rot. It belongs to the city.

So much better than some boring modern venue. It actually has soul.

My graduation was held there and it was amazing. Such a shame to let a beautiful building like this just sit empty.
