The road gets backed up daily. This is a ridiculous location for a huge complex. Demographics for this project are not concentrated near this site-that would be on the other side of Gilbert’s corner!

Why do LCPRD officials think it's OK to eliminate a 60' foot little league diamond and a 90' foot baseball diamond?
Are these diamonds no longer being used?
It's obvious why they are trying to renovate Mickie Gordon Park into cricket fields because it's the cheapest land grab to do such! Put the cricket fields where the need/want is!
How many Middleburg/Purcellville residents are requesting these cricket fields?
Please by all means LOCO officials, please share the results of such a survey or whatever you have and please have names and addresses of such individuals requesting cricket fields in Middleburg.
For the record, to the folks speaking about the LED lights, the LED lights today vs. the incandescent lights of old do not have any light spillage as the LED lighting is concentrated and contained onto the field.
I have played on that 90' baseball diamond field in the men's baseball league and coached on it as well when I was at Notre Dame Academy.
By the way, WHO allowed the fox in the hen house already at Mickie Gordon Park?
It states ... A cricket pitch in the center of the baseball field at Mickie Gordon Memorial Park was the first installed by the county parks department to accommodate its fastest growing sport.

Agree that the cricket fields do not belong at Mickie Gordon park and would be much better positioned in the Ashburn, Brambleton or South Riding areas.

If the county needs cricket fields, they should have installed them at the new Hal and Bernie Hanson park which is closer to the majority of the county’s cricket players

Cricket is a fine sport but should have its venue near those that play it so they don’t have to travel far. Mickie Gordon park should be preserved both for its African American heritage as well as its rural nature. Increased traffic and above all else, tall lights disrupting the night time environment as well as possible loudspeakers would corrupt our rural, environmentally minded community.

I grew up in Middleburg and played for Mickie Gordan in both Junior & Senior Babe Ruth. I played College Baseball in the ACC, and Mickie helped develop me as a player and a person. Between Loudoun County Public Schools & Loudoun County Government, I don't know which one is worse. Mickie spent thousands of hours on that field keeping it in shape and preparing the field. He saved P&R many trips from Leesburg to Middleburg for field maintenance. Regarding the town of Middleburg & its citizens, you don't want lights on fields until 11 Pm or 12 midnight during the year. My suggestion for Loudoun County Parks & Recreation, take the time to build a sports complex in a location where many county residents live. Mickie Gordan Park is not the location, whoever is in charge of Parks & Recreation, since Loudoun County promotes itself as the richest County in the United States, take time to travel around the southeast and look at what counties have done to build sports complexes for its residents. Your department seems to always be behind the times. Maybe it's time to hire someone who knows how to build sports complexes. I worked in MLB for 14 years, traveling around this country, and I have seen wonderful sports complexes. Before the County makes the horrible mistake of building cricket fields at Mickie Gordan Park, take time to learn the history of Middleburg. It has a rich tradition in baseball & horses. Middleburg is one of the best small towns in America, it's a tourist & destination town. Trust me, if you put up lights on fields that stay on until 10 PM, 11 PM, or midnight, Middleburg will not be a tourist town or destination place for people to enjoy.

The proposed changes to the park takes away a function multi purpose facility serving the residents of Middleburg and replaces it with a single use facility serving only the interest of those living outside of the community. The increased traffic and expansion of Carters Farm Lane detracts from the quiet community and surrounding properties.
