Loudoun County, please allow this beautiful corner of our county to remain a reflection of what Loudoun County used to be like … DO NOT ruin our land, our way of life by forcing people outside our community to invade in the name of a sport not even popular here. Our county has so few portions left unspoiled, please respect the quiet, country life those of us who live here have chosen to lead and allow our land to remain protected.

Mickie Gordon Park should reflect the community recreational activites ofcthe residents of Middleburg, Aldie and western Loudon County. Cricket fields with lights do not support or enhance the leisure interests of our area. Please maintain the current leisure and sporting activities currently there.

No one plays cricket in Loudoun Co. Please leave Mickey Gordon Park the way it is. I use the tennis courts there and the recycling facility. DO NOT pave paradise and put up a parking lot that is too large and unnecessary!

I believe that all public comments in support of this Petition speak for themselves. Please read all of them, Loudoun County. Please also add Mickie Gordon Park to your list of protected Historic & Cultural Sites. It belongs there - not in the destructive path of your "improvements" to this well-documented piece of our local Middleburg area history. We do not want 3 new cricket fields, 18 new light towers, one new 150-ft cell tower, and a new storm water management facility that will replace a small, serene fishing pond. We also do not want the VDOT-estimated surge in traffic into and out of the proposed facility throughout the weeks and weekends of the imposed cricket season. The local residents who would be adversely affected DIRECTLY by this proposed Cricket Complex are not the same people who will benefit from these "improvements". I respectfully request that Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services strike that balance somewhere in Eastern Loudoun County where project proponents and beneficiaries live. Their transportation/infrastructure ecosystem is much better suited to support such a project. We don't need or want these kinds of "improvements" in our beloved community in and around Middleburg. Let Middleburg, uniquely rich in American history and culture, preserve what we have left for future generations to appreciate. Thank you.

This park must be preserved as part of American history for generations to see, learn about and cherish the memories of those who played in the Negro League.
