MHS is one of the most unique schools I have ever known of. The pedagogy and structure of the curriculum truly make it a place where students not only learn academics, but they are prepared for a life of learning. It would be an utter shame for this brilliant concept of a school in Cleveland’s University Circle to fade away. We must keep it alive!

Very disappointed to hear that a decision is being made to close MHS without any outreach to their community. Four years of driving to and from Michigan, my daughter five hours away from home, was a commitment and a sacrifice. We looked outside the box, we took a chance, and we trusted the process. At MHS, she continued her extraordinary Montessori education and found an extended family in the students and staff. It’s a sad day when the people responsible for protecting the wealth of education and family in the brick and mortar of MHS, disrespect the loyalty that walked through its doors. We stretched ourselves, we problem-solved, we found support in community; we expect the same to preserve the existence of the Montessori High School.

We are so grateful to MHS and the terrific school and boarding house staff, all of whom helped our daughter Greta grow into a wonderful young woman. Very sad to think that this opportunity might not be available to other yong people.

It is hard for me to find the right words that could even begin to explain how special MHS is to me. I graduated 5 years ago, but the school's influence on me and my abilities will stay with me for the rest of my life. I would not be who I am or where I am without MHS, and I too hoped that my kids would have the opportunity to attend the school. I was heartbroken to hear of the decision to close MHS -- it felt like losing a friend and a home, and I know there are many others who feel the same. MHS has an extremely passionate, talented, close-knit, and hardworking community of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and families. I wish that it had been utilized to its full extent before the decision to close was made, but now I hope that moving forward, the strength and resources of the greater MHS community are not forgotten or underestimated. We love our school, and will do whatever we can to help.

MHS is worth saving, and it is worth saving by having an open heart and approaching the financials with the mind of an educator as well as a business administrator. I ask the Board to ask themselves if closing is truly the only option, HAVE YOU EXHAUSTED ALL OPTIONS? HAVE YOU AS A BOARD TRULY GIVEN US YOUR FULL ENGAGEMENT AND EFFORT? This school is not just about the numbers, and if there was ever a time we needed the Board to step up to the plate, it is now. DO THE RIGHT THING, SAVE THIS SCHOOL! IT ISN'T ABOUT YOU AS A BOARD, ITS ABOUT THE ADOLESCENTS AND ALL THE ADULTS THAT HAVE SHAPED BEAUTIFUL MINDS AND SOULS. READ THE VISION AND MISSION, STICK TO IT, AND FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THIS PROMISE.

MHS is definitely one of the best things I have ever been a part of. It is so much more than a school! I graduated 6 years ago, and every where I go I feel so lucky to have had the experiences and unique educational opportunities I had at MHS. It really set me up to see the world differently than most, and I am forever grateful. I honestly hoped that one day my kids might go there. If there is any way we can save MHS I will support it as best I can! There is a whole community of alumni who have a special place in their heart for MHS and more effort can be made to reach to an amazing network of individuals who are doing great work across the country and the world! The MHS community is strong :)

MHS was a wonderful, nurturing environment for both of my children. Our family is dismayed to learn of the Board's decision. We feel this unique school is worthy of much support and do not want to see it closed.

MHS is a hidden oasis for so many students seeking to belong to a community that loves and respects everyone. This school celebrates individuality and it fosters independence and creativity. Academically, the unique combination of an IB curriculum paired with a Montessori approach to learning, results in life long learners who believe they can make a difference. MHS has the perfect location and University Circle partners. The staff was well qualified and the facilities (the science lab is awesome and state of the art) were beautiful. The MHS students built a strong community where many of them felt save for the first time in their lives. According to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs : now that they feel safe they can really learn and get busy trying to change the world. It breaks my heart to see MHS close. This should not have happened.

I love this school even though I was just here last year. I find there are so many talented people here and all of them are my goals in life - to inherit their qualities. I wish the school to recover as I and other appreciate for what the school has done to change our life.

Hi, I am a rapper. And this school has allowed me to showcase my rapping talents. This school has allowed me to be creative. I felt as if I didn’t have to pretend to be someone else. I am definitely going to miss this close community. We are like a big family. I really want the Montessori spirit and school to continue.
