Save Montessori High School

I cannot adequately express in words how sad this news makes me. I have many fond memories of my time at MHS and it had a profound impact on me and my success. Please reconsider your decision to close down and look for other sources of funding.

MHS offered an educational alternative and a place that was the right place for many students who attended. It is sad to hear that this educational option for students and families is going away. It was also a nice addition to the University Circle Community.

My husband and I are very grateful for the education our daughter Greta received from MHS. She learned critical thinking, improved her writing skills and living in the boarding house also taught her life skills. Greta was well prepared by MHS for college and has finished her first year at Beloit College on the Deans List. The teachers and staff at MHS are high quality and not only provide a wonderful educational experience, they nurture and guide the students to be successful. We are sad to hear about MHS closing and hope efforts to keep the school open can be found

MHS has been a caring, nurturing environment for my daughter. The growth she has experienced over the past three years is due in large part to the community that has embraced her. From top notch teachers, amazing staff, and life long friends, Julia has learned how to be a creative critical thinker, an ally for those who need it, and a student with long term goals. I can not see Julia at another school for her senior year and I am willing to do whatever it takes to save our school. Thank you to all who are helping in this process!

This school has permanently changed my life and how I see others. Everyone is so caring and wonderful, this community simply cannot be replaced and you shouldn't try to. Please consider how large of an impact this has on our lives.

Without the math program, I wouldn't know how to do long division, I am devastated at my life is destroyed, i'm stuck in a mud pile filled with shards of glass.

This school has changed so many peoples' lives. you can not replace it so stop thinking that, and we can't just move on or get over it. so stop thinking that as well.

This school was awesome and I don’t want it to close even if I don’t go there anymore.

Thank you Julia for doing this!! MHS needs to stay open. I would not be the person I am today if I had not had the opportunity to attend MHS. I would be hard broken if this school closed and future students missed this unique educational opporunity that was so valuable to my life and many others.

Montessori High School is worth saving.

MHS is so infinite in my heart. The concept of the school ending is a real tragedy :( ... I would do anything to keep it going, for more students to have the MHS experience. <3

This is a unique school with a vibrant, flourishing community that personally touches each individual in a positive way. To express my sorrow at seeing such a wonderful school not continue next semester and all semesters following would be impossible - this is truly the best school I could ask for. If you have signed it, then I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and if you haven't then you have absolutely nothing to lose from doing so, while on the alternative side, we could lose MHS.

MHS is a necessary education choice for the community. Both our children attended and it truly made a difference in their lives and who they are today. It truly is the way children should learn through a sense of community, experience, and personal responsibility. Lifelong relationships are made with both students and entire families,

My 4 years at MHS were some of the best in my life so far. This school gave me so many tools and opportunities I would have never gained otherwise, from my amazing CAS project that got me published in a major scientific journal , to college level writing skills(which are no joke- Thanks Tina, Regina, and Mike Larsen). I can’t express how much MHS means to me. I would be a much different person without it. I would have never made the most amazing friends, or connected with my teachers the way most students can never conceive of, or found my passion and encouraged to pursue it as far as I did. I know I would have never gotten into every college I applied to, or gotten a scholarship to my dream school. I want everyone to have the same awesome high school experience as I did, and it breaks my heart that not even 4 years after I graduated that won’t be the case. I can’t even imagine what it must feel like to current students. I’m working minimum wage right now, but I will totally give money if that’s what it takes to keep MHS afloat. I won’t be able to attend the meeting on May 9th- thanks work- but I’ll be there in spirit, I guess. Either way, I’m rooting for every current student, faculty, staff, parent, and alumnus that shows up to fight.

Thank you Julia for being so proactive and organizing this petition as well as reaching out tot the alumni community. MHS has a very special place in my heart. The community nurtured students curiosity in a social and academic manner. I am forever grateful for the opportunities and experiences I had at MHS and it truly breaks my heart to think about it’s closing down. I’ll see you at the meeting!!
