Save McConaghys Souvenir shop at the Giants Causeway

I remember all the wee shops at the Causeway and it will be a shame if the last one has to go.

Ich selber war 1977 das letzte Mal am Giant's Causeway, genau nach 40 Jahren. Ich war relativ entsetzt, nicht mehr ohne Gebühr den Strand zu erreichen. Man spendet und bezahlt gerne, aber nicht, wenn man dazu in dieser Weise gezwungen wird. Dank Ihrer Hilfe haben wir den einzigen Zugang noch gefunden. I thought the National Trust's main aim was to preserve the heritage, culture and unique historic identity of all the the different places they manage? Surely McConaghy's shop meets all of these & deserves to be preserved.

I remember all the wee shops when they were down at the stones the fact that Tommy McConaghys is the only one left shows his dedication the national trust should renew his lease

I’d like to inquire about buying something from the shop. I am in San Francisco.

I've been attached to the Giants Causeway for nearly 30 years and the one constant that has been there was McConaghy's shop. If this was to go not only would it impact the lives of Tommy and his family but also the local area and it would officially prove that the national trust have no real interest in the conservation of local lives in the Bushmills area.

I am Appalled and Disgusted by the shameful Actions of National Trust at the Giants Causeway trying to Close McConaghy's Souvenir Shop. Down through the years the McConaghy Family have provided a much valued 1st class service to vistors both local and from across the world with the friendliest of warmest of local welcomes any tourist could hope to receive. Selling tea,coffee, ice cream and souvenirs at very resonable prices. The Arrogance of The National Trust wanting to shut down this much valued local business demonstrates a worrying trend in their desire to gain Total Domination of this Area. Unfortuatley the Giants Causeway seems to be only seen as a 'Cash Cow' generating a massive annual income for the NT. Perhaps they should drop the 'Trust' from their title as many people no longer Trust this money grabbing organisation and replace it with 'Disgrace' as it will be a total disgrace if they force this little Souvenir shop to close down. Please show your support to The McConaghy Family and voice your concern and condemnation to the National Trust regarding this! By adding your name to this petition.

The National Trust should not be allowed to put the McConaghy family out of their shop.

Pure unadulterated GREED from the National Trust. They rip off locals and tourists every day when access to the Giants Causeway is FREE. They charge to park your car and visit the Centre -- £10-50 per person -- they don't tell you that you can go to the rocks FREE. To close a family business that has been there long before the GREEDY Trust arrived is a disgrace when there are acres of space st the Causeway to build additional toilets.

Shame

It is an absolute disgrace that the National Trust would even consider closing down this business! The family have been running the souvenir shop for many years to the delight of many tourists and locals alike. If the National Trust weren't operating through utter greed they would realise how important it is to have an independent and beloved business at such an important attraction

This is a much needed facility and attraction to the Giant's Causeway having been established there long before the National Trust were even heard off in the area.

Corporate greed denying local long standing entrepreneur his livelihood, shame on the NT.

Absolute disgrace; the Martin/McConaghy family have been promoting the Giant's Causeway for much longer than the National Trust and must be allowed to continue doing so.

I'm hoping everything works out OK for the long established McConaghy family.

With the massive renovations and additions undertaken by the National Trust in recent years, there was ample opportunity to add more toilets. Improved signage to the existing toilets would be an improvement. Families shouldn't have to pay an admission fee to get an ice cream or a soft drink after a walk to the Causeway.

As a member of Nat Trust I am disappointed at the Trust's action of closing such a popular facility which many of our friends & families have enjoyed over the years.

70 years of a family Trading and you want to replace it with toilets ?????really that is exactly where your plan should go straight down the toilet.

Shame big company just do what they want
