Maria is the heart and soul of 111. Maria was more than just a staff member to the community, she is family to all of us. She is an amazing person, always with a smile on her face and very passionate for what she does. I graduated from this school 14 years ago and I still visit from time to time and she is one of the reasons why I still do. Someone Like her does not deserve to be let go, It would be a major loss to the school, community and our future students. Thank you Maria!

This can’t happen. I wasn’t the best of kids but Maria never gave up on me and was a major positive influence in my life.

An educator who gives 20 years of their career and life to a school does not deserve to be let go, especially not due to a weak excuse such as budget cuts. Mrs. Galimidi deserves better!

No way. Maria did so much for the community in my very eyes. She helped me in so many ways and always was there for me when I needed to ask someone for a advice in the office. Love that lady like my own mother, always will. Inshallah everything will turn out the way is suppose to be.

Maria Galimidi is a stalwart member of the Hell's Kitchen Community and an amazing asset to PS111 and its community Partners. The 52nd Street Project has been working with her for 20 years at PS111. Her knowledge of the school, the community and its needs is invaluable. Please do not abolish her position.

I work at the nonprofit across the street from 111, The 52nd Street Project. Maria has been an integral part of sustaining our organization’s relationship with the youth at 111. It would be a huge mistake for the school and our community if Maria’s position is eliminated. It will truly show whether the higher ups at 111 care about the people who have lived here their whole lives, or the wealthy condominium residents gentrifying the neighborhood.
