Save Malik Jackson from unfair punishmment

I completely understand punishment but to be unfair and to give such a long period of time in an alternative school is just ridiculous to a student that has never been in trouble and is very well known in the community as a great role model to other students. What lesson are you teaching the youth at Taylor High School?

The punishment is a too harsh. I too believe in zero tolerance for fighting, but as I understand the story, the other young man, who had the reputation of being a bully, had no repercussions for his part.

I don't condone bullying therefore any child who bullies another child should be pinished. I believe everyone should be able to defend themselves, however, I do understand in school fighting is not tolerated. Therefore I understand why there is a punishment when fighting in school. #SaveMalik

Suspension yeah but not alternative school when there has been no other discipline problems. The school is definitely overdoing it. The other kid should get alternative.

3 day was enough. Please stop the harsh punishment. He still a child. Don't forget he was being bullied. What would you do? What if it was your child?

I think the real problem, the bully, should get the 45 days in alternative school. Not this young man. 3 days suspension is enough for his role in the confrontation. He was just defending himself against the bully. Were is the no bullying tolerance?

Both students should have been suspended for a couple of days. That's how it was done in the old days and my generation seemed to turn out OK as adults. Shipping him to the TOC is excessive and unnecessary. Please reconsider the 45 day punishment at the TOC to 0 days.

I don't think it is fair either. Taylor does not look out for the person being picked on. File against Taylor school for bulling they told me the other day that it is zero approved take them up on that.

I read a study where it concluded that African American and Mexican Americans high school students get harsher punishments than white students for similar incidents.

We as a community need to come together and pray for these two young men. If they are gonna punish one they need to punish the other as well. The only thing this does is make the instigator feel that it's okay for him to do it to another student being that nothing happened to him. My prayer is that all administrators involved will see that this was a bad judgement call on their behalf and have a change of heart for Malik's sake.

Right is right. So do him right.

The school should join in to prevent bullying. Research and investigate the problem to see where it stems from.
