Much needed barracks in Kent. Save it.

This is part of our towns history. If the government want to save money, stop paying the expenses for second homes in london or better still relocate government out of london to somewhere like milton keynes where their second homes would be cheaper.

With over 200 years of history, memories with the local people and the Gurkha's, it would be a travesty and disrespect to the memories of those who sacrificed their lifes.
The Gurkha's are one of the most honourable, loyal, committed regiment that you will ever know. Whenever i see a Gurkha, the first thoughts are....formidable, respected and history.
If the barracks are closed, there is a priceless emotional attachment that will be lost. Nothing can replace that.
A short term benefit to housing developers, short term financial benefit to the local authority all at the long term lose of history, tradition, respect and honour.
What would our forefathers think of us? Those who offered and gave their lifes to protect us and our future.
Lets make a stand and help our brothers in arms, to protect their futures.

This is a disgrace!!! The barracks are part of our heritage there is plenty of land to build houses in Kent.

The Royal Engineers barracks is an important part of Maidstone. Its closure would be to the determent of the community and probably a strategically bad move for the army as it is I believe the only sizable army barracks in the south east corner of England.

If this government has any scence of history or nationhood it will not closed this barracks,this is just for short term gain ,I am sure Maidstone will be a lesser place to live when it is gone, but I bet Maidstone council are rubbing their hands together with glee with all the houses that a planned for the site.

Invicta park barracks is not only an useful part of the army , but is an important part of Maidstone & her history. & one one of these days we will cut back our military too far . So stop the cutbacks now before it's too late

Not only are these barracks a monumental part of Maidstone's history,I also met my hubby when he was stationed there in 87.I strongly agree they should stay!!
