Save Maidstone Barracks

Please stop destroying history. These barracks are important for Maidstone AND the UK.

Showing support for the Corp of Royal Engineers.Stop destroying Our Armed Forces.

This Government has gone too far, too often!!! Ludicrous decisions from incompetent civvies. Pathetic.

We're proud to have 36 Engineers in our town, a long tradition that would be a real loss. All these houses being built but not enough schools, hospitals etc to support the increasing population. Think again this decision is wrong for Maidstone.

I served with 25 Engineer Regiment in Maidstone 1955 - 57. I think this site should be kept for the army.

This closure should NOT be allowed it will be detrimental to the town, area & armed forces in general. Is this a move to integrate all armed forces into a British defence force?

Maidstone has been the home of the barracks and needs to stay as the home of the barracks!

I am signing this petition as my grandfather served as a soldier at the invicta barracks during the 1930's was based in India for a while and was demobbed after WW2.

Once again the Govt bean counters taking easy option - target the forces as a whole and their familes. But they can find the money to refurb Westminster.

Invicta Park Barracks are an integral part of this town and must not be closed, it should be developed, modernised and allowed to stay for another 200 years. The wanton vandalism that is destroying our armed forces needs stopping...for all our sakes. There is far too much house building going on in Maidstone, pretty soon the town will be nothing more than a gridlocked car park. There is sod all investment in the infrastructure of the town or its surrounding area, the roads are too narrow and simply do not cope with the volume of traffic now so another massive housing estate is the last thing Maidstone needs.

If I was a soldier I would want a Ghurka to be there with me. Very disciplined and we owe them a lot for all their help over the years

I was based at Invicta in the early seventies.

I was stationed here in1968 .I still live in Maidstone 49 years later.It will be a sad day if they have to leave.Only people who don't live here don't care about the local community.

Defence Secretary stated remote barracks would close to be replaced with barracks in locations that would allow employment for families and soldiers, once retired. Maidstone, therefore, must be retained and developed into a modern barracks!

Yet more treasury forced cuts , this direct from there to get rid of , what a surprise the exact same amount of jobs they want to cut ! , they have no idea where to put all these units .

Not another one we won't have any left soon

this is one cut to many we will have no army left, it what corban wants it has to stop.

Please don't close the barracks.

We need this to keep our county town going, it is always a pleasure to see them all at Cenotaph service and support them, and remember the ones that never returned to Maidstone but will always be remembered.

Over 200 years of history.. keep our heritage.......too much past is being destroyed to accommodate migrants.. Keep Great Britain British .. Long life the Queen
