Invicta Park Barracks, Maidstone has been a home for the Gurkhas specially "The Queen's Gurkha Engineers" - part of 36 Engineer Regiment, Royal Engineers. The Maidstone town, people and society is an integral part of the Maidstone Barracks. This will affect the Regimental morale, disintegrate the society and life, if the Barracks is to close. This will be a very wrong thing to do for many reasons. Please have a morale courage to do the right thing at difficult circumstances that's what it counts. Gurkhas' unconditional support to the Queen and the country shouldn't be treated like this. Please save "Maidstone Barracks".

The skills that the men of the Royal Engineers gain during their service and continued training, don't get left at the gate when these men leave the army, they continue to benefit their communities and the wider economy for decades to come. The Royal Engineers cover a huge range of mechanical and artisan trades, which this country needs; To lose this valuable, National resource, (who are more than just soldiers) would be a great loss to the County of Kent and to the country.

As one of hundreds of former RE residents of Invicta Park Barracks now living locally I believe that keeping the barracks open will benefit the town for many more decades to come.
