Save Maidstone Barracks

Maidstone needs to address it's inferstructure before it builds any more housing. Hospitals, doctors, dentists, roads and utilities etc need upgrading first.

There must be a full and proper consultation with the residents of Maidstone. Don't let Maidstone lose another historical connection with the British Army

More consultation required to promote local wishes and ideas

I was brought-up in Hythe in the 40's and 50's. We lost our famous School of Musketry and our famous Mackeson Stout Brewery in the 60's. Don't let Maidstone lose its famous Invicta Park Barracks, otherwise the County town will be all the poorer !

Keep it open

Any further developments in and around Maidstone needs to address the concerns of existing residents and that should include our Ghurkha friends and their families. Maidstone area is already committed to several developments coping with the side effects of those will I am sure highlight problems of over development.

Feel so strongly that our Historic Military Barracks should never be lost. Yeh God's what next!

We need our Gurkhas, we are supposed to respect our Armed Services, lets start doing so.

We don't want our great, polite, lovely soldiers and their families to be removed from our town. We love them and can only guess that the land that the barracks occupy has more value than the livelyhood and comfort of those who have made Maidstone their home, whilst they wait for any order that might be issued for them to put their lives at risk for the communities all over this country.

This is too important to be dictated to saving money - the barracks are important part of our history and economics!

These barracks are important to Maidstone and it's residents.

I totally oppose the closure of Maidstone's Barracks. We are both now and historically a garrison town, we are proud of our soldiers .We demand to keep our soldiers here in Maidstone. They are ours, so hands off, think again.

The Barracks must be retained out of respect for the service delivered to the UK by the Ghurkha's

The barracks should be retained for historical reasons and as a sign that we support the Ghurkha community and their involvement in the area. We have more than enough new houses being built and there is insufficient infrastructure to allow house building on the Barracks

I think it will be a very sad day for all concerned if the Barracks were to close, especially in the light of the current political position abroad. The Barracks are am integral part of Maidstone, to say nothing of the affect it will have on the families stationed there.

The position of the Gurkhas makes this a particularly sensitive issue, and there should be no rush to a decision on closure.

Fully supportive

Not only is the closure unnecessary, it will lead to huge disruption to the town and local residents, once the planners get their hands on the site. We live opposite the barracks and I'd rather move than live with the upheaval of construction for a number of years.

These people fought alongside our troops to save England from the Germans, and now the British government wants to shut down the place they have called home, Maidstone barracks , shame on our government it makes you ashamed to be British ???
