This Luther Burbank Park property was given to the citizens of Mercer Island for their recreational use....to have some special space to get away from the rush of life. It was not intended to have 2 acres of it taken away from MI citizens and visitors so hundreds of cars can leave off their cars while they travel elsewhere.

The new P&R will not solve the parking issue. Sound Transit should increase their buses, instead of cutting them down. Once the public transportation is improved, nobody would have to drive.

I appreciate you listening to the concerns of our community but would like a more thorough exploration of alternative options that do not destroy green space and add additional off-island cars to the area

Seems awefully rushed to appease Sound Transit and not MI residents. Why not attacked downtown traffic and parking with the same zeal.

We do need more parking to use the Metro services. I am very disappointed to hear that the city is trying to do something without transparency that will still not ensure accessbility to M.I. residents.

Please find alternatives to public and park property for Off Island Parking. The north end will be disrupted by OFF ISLAND PARKING and have buses in line on 80th turning it into a transit station. We do not have the roads(infrastructure) to accomodate this

Why are we destroying our parks for the convenience of people who live in Bellevue, Issaquah, and Redmond, who have substantially more options in terms of transit, routes, and parking than we do?

NO! NO! Unthinkable to have the massive structure and the tremendous increase in traffic associated with the parking structure.

We are paying for the mainenance of Luther Burbank Park. The county didn't want to maintain it anymore. Light and use the parking spots at lower Luther Burbank ajacent to I-90. More parking for off-Island is unacceptable. At the Montlake Light Rail station there is to be a viewing platform and then over 520 in Montake eleven ans a half acres of parks, playfields, and walking and biking trails. Mercer Isalnd needs to say no to Dow Constantine and Sound Transit.

Just use the parking lot that's already in place -- add a level or two if needed. Don't pave over precious open space! Here's a workable idea: charge a nominal fee for parking (like the Calif. BART system does -- and a higher fee for reserved spaces). This will generate $$ to expand the current lot upwards, paid for by the actual users.

Along with many others, we are in that area daily for drop off and pick up from one of the preschools there. We already have limited space on Island for preschools. Bringing a bunch of commuters and strangers to that area every day will pretty much eliminate the ability for a preschool to be located there or the kids to be as safe.
