I used to live on Kent Street, immediately behind Richmond Street, and I LOVED the sound of the live music coming form the park on festival weekends. Without those festivals all summer, the core would be a ghost-town area on weekends, and it would quickly fill up with negative influences.

I was on the founding committee of Home County back in 73 and though I was of little consequence I would hate to see it or any other musical event come to an end because someone just wanted to kill wonderful events.

Some of my happiest days have been spent at Sunfest. It would be a major step backward if we lost festivals like this. Keep your hearts open, and your soul alive with the music!

One if people don't want to live in a city....Move the f... out!!!We have an opportunity to enjoy music!!!!They get there quiet time all winter!!!Two concerts are loud people im sure you people seen concerts or festivals at some point in your quiet hermit lives that you want to live in now...But hey this Canada people land of the free...Again you had all winter for quiet...3 ...Let us have our loud music festivals people...You have no right taking our music away...GIVE US OUR DAMN MUSIC AND OUR FESTIVALS BACK!!!DON'T RUIN IT FOR PEOPLE THAT LIKE TO GO TO THEM!!!!YOU WANT QUIET???....MOVE!!!!!

In the push to revitalize downtown London and have family engaged again instead of drug dealers - Festivals bring out the kind of people we want. The self absorbed indulgence of residents who knowingly bought a home in the core did so knowing that this was part of the deal - and politicians work for us in the majority, not the few who donate to their re-elections.

Local Festivals attract many music lovers and make a city of London to be recognized as a place where many world class musicians are coming with pleasure to perform in front of the audience that really enjoy it. As long as there is no "distortion, loudness should not be a factor." The louder the better", as per an outstanding musician Scott Holt who played for 12 years next to the top living blues legend Buddy Guy...and who is recognizing London as a great place to perform. Last year London Blues Festival has proved what live entertainment means for all of us as an organizers and spectators. As a City of London we should be very proud of making it happened-first free of charge Blues Fest with quality world class Blues Musicians taking place in beautiful Victoria Park .Why City of Montreal with it's "International Jazz and Blues Festival" and Kitchener with it's "International Blues Festival" is able to bring Quality Artists who play Downtown not disturbing any occupants? ...playing as loud as required in this kind of event?
Hey London, please give a chance to all "live events" to attract the audience from all over the Country and...the World!

These people moved to the area near the park knowing the events and the possibility of noise. Why do we roll over and cater to the complainers? Stand up to them and stop trying to ruin everyone's fun.

The downtown festivals are one of our favorite things about living in London. We would sorely miss them if they didn't occur. It is a great way to spend time outside, expose our kids to culture that would be very expensive otherwise, spend time with other Londoners, and keep our money in London.

I have been a volunteer to help organize a cultural/musical event in a park in the center of a city I resided in for 5 years. Every city faces this problem at some point: the residents living nearby who don't enjoy the type of music being played that weekend protest loudly to city hall. Since there can be anywhere from a few hundred to a couple thousand attendees to any given festival, it would be cheaper to ask the complainers to visit a friend outside the city for that weekend, or, in fact, to "reward" each of them for not complaining for that weekend by making a donation to their favourite cause. Also effective is to demonstrate to the city Councillors how much money flows into the coffers as a result of the influx of visitors to the event. Most city parks across the country hold a variety of festivals over the course of the year. It might be effective to invite the Councillors to see how other cities deal with the issue. Also, the point can be made that festivals and cultural events need to be held in central, accessible locations so that all residents have access to it. If the noise complainers succeed in having the festivals shut down or moved to the outskirts, you will have difficulty attracting the same number of people to the event.

The festivals are the best part of the summer. If people can't deal with noise in the city that's their fault for moving there. It's hard enough to find large concerts as it is that aren't in Toronto.

A "city" is a corporate entity.
Cities act in their own interest ahead of the interests of the constituency. Until a noise by-law is broken then this is absolute nosnsense.
