The band is actually good unlike everything else central does. Why make them not good by taking away something they love?

May I please quote you in my discussion with the school board? Or better yet, if you are available you say it. I am Marching Knight Alumni as well as Head Band Camp Chap. My husband(also MK alumni) and I believe in the importance of an off-site band camp so much that we agreed to be head chaps for 4 years. I couldn't agree more! SIAM

Band camp saved my life-literally. I was a Marching Knight for four years. I loved seeing my siblings join the program and, even after I graduated, have similar experiences. Band camp is the chance for the Knights to get away from the stress and outside influences of life and focus on growing as a single unit.

The following letter was received on Official School Letter Head to all current MK's
Dear Marching Knights and Griffins Families,
Beginning in summer of 2014, all camps for Lincoln-Way extra curricular activities will be held on the respective campus of each
high school. This new administrative policy reflects a change from our current practice at Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way East
and is intended to provide consistency among all four programs as well as cutting down on the expenses that our families face.
We realize that our "Band Camp" experiences have been a richly important part of our organizations through the years. Therefore we will be working diligently to preserve the integrity of the traditions and those things the students hold dear about these events.
Although our camps will be held at our home schools, we are confident that we can maintain the balance of productivity and social growth as achieved in past years. These camps have been happening for the past five years at Lincoln-Way West and Lincoln-Way North with great success and we anticipate and expect the same outcome for our programs.
We appreciate your understanding of this change and look forward to starting anew in the next few months for the 2014 season.

Band camp is an important part of any marching band. Students learn to work successfully with others for a common goal. the boosters and staff have always tried to make it coast effective for families. it is an important part of any successful program

Band camp hold the most tradition in any Lincoln way school. Taking that way from is is cruel. We deserve to keep our traditions alive. Of all things in the school to cut, you're cutting the activity that brings students together and makes them a family. Band camp is were freshman become marching knights. Were our family grows. We need it. SIAM

Band camp is absolutely necessary and the music program in general. This should meet be taken away from students. The music program should be valued as much as anything else. Research shows kids in music are more likely to be successful in the real world.

The Marching Knights is an organization unlike any other. It is not comparable to any other sport or activity. It is that of a family, and taking band camp from us is taking a tradition that was instilled when the organization was created. Please help us. SIAM
